I remember he had similar "fatigue" type issues while at LSU. Hopefully he now has it under control.

As a diabetic, I know how hard it can be to maintain glucose levels during exercise.

but he was probably tired due to high sugar. Best of luck to him

Yeah I was wondering the same thing. I know he cramped up a lot I wonder if these were precursors to the diabetes

Not likely type 1. That onsets typically in early childhood. I'm a type 1 myself.

You don't have to be unhealthy or overweight to develop type 2

I remember Jay Cutler being diagnosed 2 or 3 years into his pro career, but that's the least of his problems now.

Not unusual at all to develop Type I diabetes in your 20's. I am a internal medicine physician.

Once diagnosed as a diabetic, one would rather be Type 2. At least your body can still make some insulin and is more insulin resistant. With a proper paleo type diet and exercise (which I'm sure he gets a lot of) Type 2 is a very manageable disease. In fact the paleo type diet and exercise that a Type 2 must do to get in control without insulin is more of the type of diet most non-diabetics should have. Have to eliminate the sugar intake and high glycemic carbohydrates. Unfortunately the grocery store is full of all this refined sugary food because the craze has been 'low fat' when actually the exact opposite is true.

Type 1 now is an entirely different animal if insulin dependent. Jay Cutler has Type 1 from what I understand. I've seen him testing his blood sugar on the sidelines during a Monday Night Football game. The announcers even commented on it. I have a lot of respect for Type 1 diabetics as it is a very challenging disease to have.
