Passing offense advances team...

glad to see that series last night where Mett threw like 4 straight completions, advancing the team in a fashion I've not seen since the T. Hodson days. Then we got into the redzone and fizzled out for lack of creative play calling. This might've been the drive where we decided to go for a field goal on the 1/2 yard line (horrible call to go for a field goal, btw).
Listened to A. Risher last night on the drive home, and he nailed it: LSU has got to continue to aim for more balanced attack while being more creative in doing so. (and no, mere numbers of passes v. runs is not a definition of "balanced"). One caller noted there was very little play action passing. Risher said something along the lines of without creativity, we will have the same struggles.
A friend of mine who watched the game with me called nearly every running play, which side, and to whom. Bottom line: we can beat the Aggies with this uber conservative playbook -- i.e. vanilla offense, but not BAMA.
The co-host (Hanagriff?) countered Risher saying that Miles is not going to change a thing. And this is what scares me because I'm afraid he is right.
Although Mett is inconsistent, you cannot try to limit him to only what he can safely do -- for this is why Florida beat LSU and why the win margin last night was 2 pts.
I like the little bit of faith in the pass last night, but thought the shutting it down after the interception was reactionary and wrong. Interceptions are part of football. You've got to roll with punches and keep slinging.
The game could've had an opposite outcome last night and you all know it.
It all comes down to taking risks. I'm afraid the Aggies and a week off cannot prepare us for BAMA unless Miles has something special in the works.

There were a good number of passes after the INT.

so this only counts as half a win?

The game was won and well in hand with the physical ability of the line and our RBs. It was the right decision to center around the run with the TOP battle largely in our pocket.
The only reason that game came within 2 points is due to:
1. The interception
2. Special teams play
3. That ridiculous conversion on 4th and long near the end of the game
We do need a little more creativity in our play calling but last night was a sound strategy, for the most part.

You have a right to be frightened, grasshopper. If Les keeps losing games like he did last night, he will get fired.

I too am concerned about an offense that rings up 400+ yards against a premier defense.
All that control the line of scrimmage, control the clock, keep the other guy's O off the field is so dangerous.
Screw the interception, fling dat ting!!!!!

the o-line had to improve in order to open up some things on offense, if they continue to perform like last night, we'll see more from the offense. Red zone offense has to improve though...

didn't he predict that LSU's defense would drop off last year after losing Peterson, Nevis and Sheppard?

You do realize we didn't kick a FG from the half yard line right? We called a time out and went for it. Chase Clement then had a false start that pushed us back to the 5.5 yard line. We then kicked a FG which was definitely the right call from there.

some speculation that was going to be a fake, but after seeing SC had it covered they called timeout and put the offense back on the field...there was no field goal attempt from the 1/2 yard line

ESPN said magee was in (maybe to "hold") it was a fake.
