He makes pitches look better in general which means more strikes. But outside of that, he hasn't been significantly better than Romero. He needs to play. His hitting is there. romero fell apart (that's it's own story). But the perception that Pap is a fantastic defender all-around is false.

Romero has played better than Pap for most of the year. He didn't fall apart until the very end.

In Pap's defense some of those curveballs were so far outside they are almost unblockable

Romero defense was horrible at the end. Pap is a better catcher but worse hitter.

And the other two? 1 a fastball that he just didn't catch and the other a stolen base allowed because he couldn't handle the pitch?

Defense tonight definitely leaving something to be desired tonight. He's not even framing like he usually does. Romeros bat would still be better than the Jordan's right now.

Not to mention they're hitting in front of the plate.

That's more, if not all, on Lange

Pap is not good at framing the curveball

I think it's one of the better things he's good at. Romero is terrible at it. Lets the ball pull his glove instead of meeting it (low) or letting it get deep (high).

This inning plays out very differently if Duplantis catches that ball in LF. His defense has been more disappointing than his bat.

Right Field, right? And that's a tough ball to get to that's not only going deep but tailing.

Right now Pap is a better defender and a better hitter. Romero has sucked so badly at both that you simply can't play him unless he shows something at practice.

I'm definitely not suggesting you start Romero.
