Same thing as contributing or non-contributing parish member for catholic school tuition. You can pay the tax deductible church vig OR the nondeductible higher registration fee. Same game.

Screw that. We need that deduction after all those failed passes that hit the ground this year

Those of you crying about doing away with this and other deductions are crazy!

......hell even charitable church ministries like Catholic Ministries or the local food bank should be....

I, are dependent upon the deduction to continue to "support" the student athletes that in turn produce the athletic department profit that give $ 9-10 mil a year to the university

You could....I dunno....donate the money to the academic side instead. You are getting something from donating to athletics....tickets/benefits of some kind. Those who have season tickets will get to keep them if they can afford them. Those who were using the deductions as a way to keep paying their fees, well other people are in line to pay those fees. Move along.

I am amazed the deduction has lasted this long. How is something that is not optional considered a charitable contribution?
having tickets and paying donations to TAF/Athletics is optional...

Also this discussion happens every now and then. Very unlikely it even comes close to passing.

Meh.....I can't understand how anyone would be for additional government sanctioned theft. Those assholes get enough of my money, screw them wanting even more.
