So you are now saying that Miles as a recruiter is overrated, He's not even good at that. Are were you trying to say that Miles is not a bad coach cause he doesn't have talent?

What I'm saying is this...good ain't good enough anymore...gimmick offenses will have a difficult time against Big Boy football...watch Blammer crush the competition in the playoff! The bar has been raised...now LSU must raise it's recruiting process to be an elite program in the future...by that I mean we must recruit mean, tough, dominating linemen, or else!

It's really not that hard when you get to pick anyone you want. It's not like he has to find hidden talent or anything. It's not like we wouldn't have taken A'Shawn Robinson if we could get him. .

yes that's it. We should start signing more of these big tough mean 5 stars like saben instead of the scrawny little 3 and 4 stars we do sign. Somebody needs to tell Miles about this.

you are right and you are wrong

we have had a lot of high ranked OL.
Our lowest ranked OL this year was 3 star Hawkins, but he was ranked low because he was a project that would take a few years to develop (he is not a RSJr)

Our biggest problems have been consistency, and Chavis and Brick just not doing their fricking jobs for 2 years.

Our biggest problem is that well go get like 6 Lbs in a class and then 1-0 the next 2 years. so all of a sudden, we have no fricking LB and then the next year we repeat.

I'm not going to mention any specific names out of respect for the players...but there have been several big strong linemen from Louisiana that have passed through LSU in past years;and there's a couple here now that are huge and strong...but they have proved not to have the necessary mind-set to contribute substantially towards having a dominating LOS...the SECW is no place for nice guys to try and play OL or DL...it's brutal in the trenches...jmho

O-Line recruiting has been atrocious. Since 2012 we singed 19 & 7 have contributed counting 2014 & 2015 classes.Derrick Edinburgh? Jonah Austin? Corey White? If Alexander & Hawkins had declared last year we would have been fricked. As it stands Alexander might be a later round pick at guard & Hawkins/Pocicc need another year to improve their draft status. Not exactly elite but what we need to build some depth.

We damn sure don't know how to recruit the QB position! That lies at feet of the HC doesn't it?

LSU has more talent on NFL rosters than Alabama, Miami, Florida St, and USC. That's been a selling point for this program. On the whole, I think our recruiting has been as good as advertised except for the most important position on the field; QB.

If we're going to beat Shorty we're going to need not just 2 or 3 great OLs...because his entire DL this year will play many years in NFL...good won't cut it anymore! Great might...lol

Offensive and defensive line recruiting/recruits just haven't panned out. It's at the heart of LSU's issues. You can work around an average QB if he's got time and you have decent RB's.

But I'm impressed with the talent that Grimes and Coach O did so far...but we need the top talent this year to go to the next level...the bar is constantly being raised in the SECW!!!!!

It's not like they aren't going after guys, its they were not signing them. Losing out to other schools. Which would make sense because most of the top targets at dline have been coming from out of state.

The oline recruitment looks to be back on track with Grimes, just that talent is young.

we have 2 staters from the 2012 class, 1 from 2013, 1 from 2014 and 1 from 2015

Sure, Iwould love to not start freshmen, but at the same time we bring in really good freshmen

Some people are better than guys over them. Thats why you recruit 19. they aren't all going to stick.

I get it; my point is more an indictment of talent evaluation during the Stud era. It was sloppy at best & it wasn't caught until the damage had been done. If your offensive philosophy is to grind it out & play ball control you simply can't shite the bed recruiting up front over 2 seasons.
I'll hand it to Grimes he's recruited lights out. It's a shame it got to this point.
