it looked to me that they were pass blocking very well most of the time and gave Etling plenty of time to throw. oddly, their run blocking was what was suspect (until late in the game).

it also appeared that auburn didn't run many stunts and that helped us a lot. I think Canada outcoached their DC (whose name I have forgotten). I just know he wasn't that good at LSU and it appears he hasn't changed a bit.

this won't go over well with some here who love to put all the blame on the o line!

Auburn had 4 sacks, but the OL was serviceable considering how much they've struggled against inferior defenses up to this point.

a couple of those sacks were coverage sacks and Etling couldn't escape the pocket but I get what you're saying. I used the word amazing as a comparison of some of the previous games where they were really bad. the fact is that Etling had some time and hit some nice completions because of it.

we all know DE isn't all world but he is a big improvement over our last QB as far as accuracy goes. he's just good enough where most teams will have to respect our passing game (and that is what's really amazing)

A couple of those sacks were on Etling. He bails out of the pocket way to quickly. He was caught 1-2 yards behind the line because he bailed early and can't out run a DTackle

Probably.

I think the OL certainly outperformed expectations considering they're struggles coming in and Auburn's DL.

Auburns defense wasn't bad, their offense was shite after the 1st quarter

O line played much better. This unit is getting stronger as the season goes along. They could still run block better on some of these short yardage situations.

They played much improved after the first quarter. They look to finally have a pulse.

I still would love to see us truly establish our run game, which we have been unable to do almost all season. But for now, I will gladly take the W

I know. we can't make a 3rd and 1 to save our arse.

strangely, it appears that they are better at pass blocking than run blocking.

I surely wouldn't call it amazing, but I get what you're saying as far as better than at some points earlier in the season.

In the first half they still had some stinkers. Letting DT run completely free at the point of attack and getting blown 2-3 yards into the backfield on 3rd and goal/inches!!!

They played much better in the 2nd half, as did the D.

I should have phrased it differently. I meant "I was amazed". it was most certainly because my expectations were leaning toward an OL collapse playing such a veteran DL. those stinkers you alluded to was what I thought I'd see all game.

Trivia Question:

This head coach of Baylor, from 1999-2002, gained infamy for finishing with a 9-36 record, only 1-31 in Big XII games. Do you know who he is?

I admire the enthusiasm but slow down. They have a long way to go. McGhee played well as the newest addition. Too many blown assignments though
