But only like 16 of those were 15 yarders.

Did anyone not expect our defense to not evolve as the season goes on?

Believe me, Chief will fix the problems and we will get better each week. I suspect they may pinch the tackles and have them play a bit closer to each other and also move around a bit to confuse the OL.

The offenses are always ahead of the defense at this point in the season. I love this team and we have not begun to play our best football yet.

Also, scheme wise you give up the interior rush when playing spread teams in order to protect the edge.....

Playing a pro style offense this week will allow the D to match hat for hat in the box and it plays to our strengths!

Mother fricking this. The year LSU had that bad arse D West Virginia racked up over 500 yards on em. Chavis can stop a Pro style offense with 11 blind kids. The past several years the spread teams that run that option bullshite have hurt the defense the most.

Our D isn't as good this year, period. We all know it and we all knew it was gonna be down before the season started. They are getting better and our offense is going to have to win us some games this year (for a change)

I think our D is good enough to slow down teams like Georgia and A&M and if our O plays as good as they have been, that's all we need.

Some of you need to realize this isn't 2011 and we're not going to be able to stop every team 95% of the time. Chavis knows what he is doing and he'll have the best guys out there. If right now that's Welter, so be it.

The D has carried the O for several years, it's their turn to carry this team... and I think they will.

We are stuck with Welter riding 180 lb RBs like ponies for 9 yard gains and reading on here how great he was for piling up assists.

Y'all people need to stop freaking out about the linebackers, we will b just fine. Spread offense's has always gained yards on us. We bend don't break remember Texas am last year,2nd quarter and beyond.plus it was raining last Saturday. Pro style offenses has trouble with our D. Plus we have the best DC in the nation, and this year we have an offense to help our D stay freash! For those who say our talent has fallen off "COCAINE IS A HELLA OF A DRUG"

I'm not sure anybody is being defended; maybe Ego.

Another factor to consider is the flow of the game. We don't have to stonewall UGA, just get some stops.

I am trying to imagine a scenario where we slow down Gurley, but am having trouble making that work out.

I wish Welter could ride the opposing runners down but he takes such poor angles, he rarely catches them. If they don't run straight at Welter, he is ineffective.

Welter has not been effective in any game this year, not just against a spread offense. Minter had 130+ tackles last year. Welter will not have 130+ tackles in two years, maybe there years. We can't afford that huge a falloff at the Mike LB. Should play Beckwith and let him learn. At least Beckwith could develop into a great Mike.

My biggest concern with Welter is that he takes terrible angles.

Wasn't that your concern last year about Eric Reid? I remember telling a bunch of idiots last year that Reid was a future NFL starter, but they kept saying "bad angles, bad angles". Welter has been playing fairly well. He's not Minter, but he's better than one of the starting LBs from that awesome 2011 defense, and he's equal to a second one. Beckwith will surely take his place, but he needs to know the D first.

We'd lose by 50! I don't care how talented a guy is, if he doesn't know the plays he can't play. This isn't the 70's; you can't play base all game and stone them. You have to fool them, and that takes complexity. Most freshmen are going to take a year to get that figured out. Minter took a year and a half.

What trips me out is when Auburn punched a TD up the middle & Lamar Louis was the one getting the reps....yet some idiot posters were still blaming Welter who was not even playing; but on the sidelines!

Tre Mason weighs 205...
Fruge had 8 yards rushing...

youre goddamn right. I trust our coaches. We are going to beat Georgia then people will stop and think before criticizing this team. This team will contend for the title mark my words.

Yeah.. Louis was in the game and Auburn was running it up the gut, and half a dozen anti Welter threads popped up.
