What else would have caused LSU and Bama's football program to head in different directions in the last few years?? Bama now has two whole regular seasons without a loss which I would have never thought possible in the SEC, while we're trying desperately to still matter....heck, we haven't beat Ole Miss and Arkansas in I don't know when. I know many folks hate to give Saban credit since he's actually a much better coach now than when he was with us, but I can't think of anything making such a difference between us and them other than coaching.

And we beat OM last in '07. It really isn't ancient history here.

That's true...we did scratch it out by the hardest. Are you guys actually satisfied though looking at where the two programs are right now?? Just looking at the AP poll today is disgusting!

Tubberville with his lazy recruiting.

We had several unfortunate events hit our program (RP and BP exits particularly) Bama has had no such misfortune. Saban would have done no better in these situations.

We beat one but not both in the same year. Just watch the ESPN program Rolling with the Tide and it shows you everything you need to know. They practice there arse off. LSU and Miles practice like pussies

I find this difficult to believe...he would have either prevented the situation by not choosing someone with problems, or he would have compensated by finding an experienced QB somewhere else.

LSU's relatively weak 2005 recruiting class amplified by the RP fiasco.

as hard as it is to believe, i think he might be a better coach now too. i knew he would have bama back, but never in a million years did i think it would happen that fast. you have to wonder if the nfl "itch" had anything to do with it. since he was at msu, he never ruled out going to the nfl and we all knew it was coming. i remember him saying (a few years ago) after he won the nc at LSU, he felt the desire wasn't what it was before(or something to that effect) and that's why he left for the nfl. college is clearly his game, and i think he knows that now. i'm not saying he didn't work hard in 04 (the man always works hard), i just wonder if his "head was in the game" the whole time. having said that, he's not the only good coach in the country. if les doesn't cut it, im sure LSU will find someone who can. the football progam is the money sport, and LSU can't afford to let it go back to the way it was in the 70s and 80s imo.

What irritates me is that we never seem to "go for broke" as Bama did and just go out, find a great coach that has won consistently(Wouldn't mind seeing Stanford's coach or Boise State's coach)and "make them an offer they can't refuse." Seems like we always have to settle for our second, third, or fourth choice.
