I'm back from serving a small ban sentence, but I just wanted to share my opinion on this season so far now that I have the chance.

I concur with a lot of people here that the direction does not appear to be positive based on the results so far. If Syracuse is winning on the lines (as O admitted), we are in for a long SEC season. Chizik pointed out on SEC Now last night that even the safety given up was concerning because our 2 deep rotation should've still gotten enough push for positive yards against the Syracuse front. If our lines are this weak, we will not be able to take advantage of a weak SEC this year (minus Alabama and maybe Auburn) and in future seasons.

The injuries, transfers, and suspensions are very concerning for me. The "next man up" mentality is applicable only when you have enough depth, which is very clear that we do not.

This team does not have an identity on offense at all. At least with Miles we were physical and ran the ball well and with power. I am not pleased with Matt Canada up to this point. We still do not have an intermediate passing game. I thought the offense looked better with Ensminger at the helm last season. I am worried we may become soft like Texas A&M and struggle to run on any SEC team--like against Mississippi State, which is not a very good team. I'm still waiting for Guice to bust a long one, and we're almost through the easy part of the schedule.

I'm going to hold out on some hope that we will get better as the season progresses and we get guys like Herron and Lawrence back on the defensive front. I would rather lose early and improve later in the season. However, I agree with many of the posters here that the emotional hire may prove to be a huge setback for the program in the long run because of his lack of success as the head man. I don't plan to set my expectations high this season and just hope we win some games we're not expected to, and it pains me to say that after having high hopes for an exciting year.

At least he's honest just like last week taking all of the blame on himself when there was plenty to go around. It's refreshing to hear that instead of we came in second and there's nothing wrong with the team at all.
