No, they should be judged on the full body of their work.

You’ll get down votes because you said something slightly positive about Miles. I fully agree with you.

We are not the only team that has a lot of new faces on defense. These excuses are getting tired.

The drop off from last year is actually staggering. O and Aranda definitely have some shite to work through.

Fair enough...but when judging the full body of work, you should take into account the ingredients they were cooking with at each juncture.

Yes...we are not the only team that has to replace new faces but we are also not the only team (outside of Bama) that struggles when rolling out a defense with entirely new faces.

Ask Ohio State and Meyer if they are enjoying having an early season "L" on their record because of the defensive talent they are bleeding into to NFL.

I would think the back end of the season would more accurately describe their full body of work?

The back half of the schedule is what concerns most people . . . given how things have started.

He's on to something you are not seeing. The full body of work includes the back half of the season which I suspect you believe you already know will look like.

You response to OP was to judge by body of work. 4 games is not body of work.

Fair to be concerned about how wins/losses will play out...but most people are assuming we won't be better. Too early to tell considering Aranda and Canada still have work to do.

Biggest risk is that players quit on the season like a significant number of fans have. This is where Orgeron needs to do work.

Too soon to tell...will have to look back to see how many of these guys are on an NFL roster next year.

Show me a draft board that has anyone on our defense listed as a top draft pick for next year.

Lacouture and Gilmore??? Come on...they got shoved around by Mississippi State.

Jackson and Toliver??? Our own fan base sees Jackson as a liability and Toliver can't even beat out a true sophomore who was 3rd on the depth chart 6 months ago.

Key??? Yeah, probably will get drafted on reputation, but has been over weight and injured.

When I'm working on the computer and I click something, if it doesn't come up instantaneously...i get pissed! I don't wait till the back half of my work load. I get pissed now! That is the society we live in.

The key for Orgeron at this juncture is to not panic, "trust the process" (we've heard that before), and be the thermostat and not the thermometer. For all Miles flaws, he was very good at this. He didn't give a shite how negative or down people were. When he stepped on the practice field the next day after the game, he was already coaching for the next weekend with joy (albeit with the wrong playbook) -- but what the hell, at least the players were bought in and played with heart.

I think a better way to say it is let's see if we get better on both sides of the ball as the season moves forward. I agree because of some key injuries and transfers we are thin at spots and basically forced to play a bunch of freshman the whole game instead of mop up duty. Traditionally the past 17 years we play a few freshman a good bit but the amount we are playing right now is beyond normal. If this teams gets better week after week I'll have more faith in our coaching staff.

but Aranda needs time to coach up his defense

how's he gonna find time to do that if he's issuing apologies for their play thus far as you suggested the other day?

Good stuff...sad but true. This the reason Orgeron and his assistants need to block out the noise, coach the hell out of this team, and trust that the end of year product will be better.

Yea, their loss was just as pathetic as ours...
