Duplantis/Freeman
Freeman/Duplantis
Deichmann
Robertson
Coomes
Smith
Papierski
Watson

Deichmann was walked four times tonight and I expect to see more of this going forward.

Maybe moving the guy leading the team in extra-base hits with a solid OBP would put a little more pressure on opposing pitchers to pitch to our best hitter.

Just a thought. I don't claim to know better than CPM, but I'd like to know y'alls thoughts on the idea.

To reiterate, I'm not suggesting a change. I just want other opinions on how that might play out and if there would be any advantage to it.

Deichman is the only true consistent power threat on our team. It's hard to protect him when that's the case and you only have a handful of guys hitting a shade over .300. You could move Deichman up in the lineup and still have the same issue of teams still pitching around him

I get that. The thinking would be that putting the guy leading the team in extra-base hits and a 400+ OBC (and tied for second in HRs) would make it a more difficult decision to pitch around Deichmann.

If I'm wrong so be it. I was just seeking opinions on the idea.

No disrespect to KR, but there is no one on this team that commands the respect at the plate to pitch to GD in leu of pitching around him. You can put anyone on the roster behind him and teams are still going to pitch around him unless the situation doesn't allow for it.

On the flip side, if I wanted a particular person to see some good pitches, I'd put them right in front of GD. I would, however, like to see GD in the 3 slot just to get some more at bats for your best bat.

Why not just switch Duplantis and Deichman. Problem solved imo.

We've won 9 out of the last 10 SEC games and you want to change the batting lineup??

That's my thought....

Other than maybe replacing Beau Jordan at DH...I really don't see a problem with the lineup. I'd like to see Reid or Woley get a chance.

I say Coombs had a rough night but during this five game win streak he's been pretty consistent. I wouldn't put to much stock in his performance last night.

Duplantis/Freeman
Freeman/Duplantis
Deichmann
Robertson
Coomes
Smith
Papierski
Watson

For starters, I'd bat nine in the order.

Alternative idea - why not have Pap behind him?

He's shown he's one of the best on the team getting on base, so if they want to walk Deichmann, they are facing up another guy who knows how to work counts and get on base. Not to mention he probably has the 2nd best power on this team, giving that threat...wouldn't kill Pap to see a few more pitches, IMO.

I'd have it
1 Sweet
2 Freeman
3 Deichman
4 Duplantis
and leave the rest.

A Deichman walk would be dangerous there (I'm assuming there'd be at least one runner on base), and Duplantis seems to get clutch hits as well as anyone on the team. I don't study the stats like some of you, though.

I would give Reid/Wiley/Romero a shot at DH tonight.

Pretty sad when your freshman 3rd baseman is way more dependable at getting runners home from 3rd with less than 2 outs than your experienced DH.

I like Coomes batting behind Deichmann. I really have no issue with the line up last night. If I had to make a change, I would move Deichmann to the 3 hole to be certain he gets an at bat in the first inning.

He's pretty solid for a freshman. I think Josh Smith is going to be an extremely good hitter in a couple of years. He's hit a ton of balls to the warning track...should have a much more powerful swing in the near future.

This.

It doesn't matter how you shift the lineup around, teams are very unlikely at this stage of the season to take a chance on pitching to Deichman. Especially with runners on base.

Now, with that being said, it certainly can't hurt to shift lineup just like the OP suggested. The theory is there. Teams then have to pick their poison. You either walk him and give KRob another base runner or let him swing with base runners. Creates a bit more of a risk/reward choice for opposing teams.

KRob's SLG% is at .462 which is highly respectable.
