It was all explained in a brief halftime radio interview as LSU coach Les Miles was running off the field here in Saturday's season opener at Lambeau Field. His team was trailing unranked Wisconsin 6-0 after the Tigers' offensive juggernaut totaled 64 yards, 26 rushing and completed three passes for 38 yards.
Miles to LSU sideline reporter Gordy Rush: "We need to run the ball better. We've thrown the ball well."
What is Miles' definition of "well?" Is that is "Oh well" or "Well, hell."

Honestly, it looked like no time had really passed between last season and Saturday. You have to discount LSU's offensive explosion in the Texas Bowl against Texas Tech's junior high defense.
The biggest disappointment was returning starting quarterback Brandon Harris. All through preseason training camp, Miles and all the key offensive playmakers raved about his poise and improved passing.

Considering the expectations and talent level at hand, this was Miles' biggest bummer since the 2011-2012 BCS Championship Game no-show against Alabama in the Superdome.
Now, after just one game, they find themselves back on the treadmill of frustration and national irrelevance.

the Tigers had a first down at the Wisconsin (1-0) 30-yard line with a minute to play. However, quarterback Brandon Harris was intercepted at the Badgers 25.
LSU was outgained 339-257, as Wisconsin had a 36:57-23:03 advantage in time of possession.
A 23-yard punt by LSU freshman Josh Growden allowed Wisconsin to take over at its 40.

If this was true then game day wouldn't have been at game yesterday after way we played last season.
Even if LSU goes 7-5 it will be followed heavily nationally on firing and the coaching search.

I'm still sick to my stomach. Everything is getting on my nerves. If Miles is fired today the season is wasted. If Miles stays the season is wasted. What a shitty predicament to be in. High hopes, low outcome.

No, they were sloppy. We made them look much better. Go back and rewatch the game as a critic rather than LSU fan. Wisc left a lot of points on the field based on poor performance. They are not that good... we suck miserably.

Even if Wisconsin is a "pretty good team", LSU is supposed to be MUCH better. You know, with the coaching payrolls and top 5 recruiting classes and such.

It's gratifying that members of the local media are beginning to tell the unadulterated, blunt truth about the clod running our team. Sitting in Lambeau yesterday was an infuriating, mortifying experience.

GameDay accepted Miles comments throughout the off-season that he had learned his lesson and would open up the offense.
It appears you believed Miles also.
