is it that we moved to a zone blocking scheme, or Grimes teaches it differently? because here we have:

Stud leading a zone blocking clinic LINK (video title says LSU, but I'm not sure this wasn't him at Bowling Green)

2013 Bama - LSU preview focusing on our offense which mentions our zone blocking in the run game LINK (warning: Bama blog)

2012 CFA Bowl previews of our inside zone and outside zone toss plays (Clemson blog)

Dec 09 Rant thread Zone blocking destroyed LSU Offense (good knowledge dropped by pilsnerpusher, just wade thru the T-Bob bashing)

so looks like we've been zone blocking for a while, are the complaints about it now just ppl repeating what they've heard/ read on here?

any OL gurus wanna get technical and take a stab at explaining some of the OL issues? seriously, I like that kinda stuff. TIA. have a great day!

Its def been part of the offense...not sure if they have gone exclusive zone blocking or grimes is teaching them new techniques but the performance ofthe line has been very disappointing

Turn it around lads!

no doubt, it's mind-boggling how bad they've looked. though they did look somewhat better this past weekend.

It'll get better. It's just in transition. Also, Grimes recruiting will sky rocket the OL talent.

From 2009-2012, he had at least one thousand yard rusher at Auburn. His recruiting at Auburn, is what took them to the NCG last year. Trust me, the next couple of years with the RBs we have, will be ridiculous!

If you watch, the O-line usually blocks their guys. The problem is there's only 5 of them and 8 defenders. And the FB and TE's have whiffed a lot.

I was a tight end MANY years ago. I was taught that zone blocking was used in a spread offense, not a power I offense, pound 'em and grind 'um. So, it lokks like we have the wrong blocking scheme for our run based offense. It would be easier to switch to a spread offense, since our line already does it. LF and Williams, and Hillard would be glad to switch. It could be done during Monday thru Thursday practice. You only need 6 or 8 plays, to the left or to the right.

You were taught wrong. LSU has zone blocked at least since stud has been here.
There are two types of zone blocking; inside zone which LSU uses the ted, tag, scoop, and slip calls to get to the backers, and zone stretch where you try to reach block the defender or stretch him to the sidelines.
