or have a meeting and find the pride that wasn't there before the meeting. Pride is something that is instilled in you by the coaching staff starting in the winter and through spring and summer drills. Pride is developed...not found in a players' only meeting. I wish the boys well...but this is the beginning of the end for O.

Word is the Alabama players called a players only meeting yesterday as well because they were pissed that they gave up 3 points to Ole Miss.

Has any team had a players only meeting and became a good team after?

When these meetings come is when someone is about to get fired before the team quits

Didn't UF have a player's meeting after Tebow made that statement that led to their NC?

What exactly are players only meetings meant to accomplish?

Make the team leaders feel like they are doing their jobs after they already failed

really? pride is instilled by one's parents usually and gradually by one's "mentors", usually teachers, along the way. maybe having the team players only meeting is indeed due to pride.

you are no fricking expert on pride. saying pride is instilled by the staff over the winter and summer/spring drills is crap.

Those players only meetings rarely do any good. When those occur it usually means shite has already hit the fan.

You're born with pride and you try to get rid of it your whole life. Pride is not the right word here with what you are explaining. Pride is not a good thing. What you are talking about is honor... with swag. It is an honor to put on the purple and gold. The team needs to bond over this honor and quit playing like pansies.

If you "don't know the offense", you better learn it quick. However, Florida still doesn't know their offense either so lets go Defense!

A coach most definitely instills some fashion of pride in his team during the offeseason amongst other intangibles. This team folds at the first hint of adversity and once again this falls on coaching.

You talking about the loaded Urban Meyer coached team that had won an NC the season before last and was winning a boat load of games?

Ya, something tells me they just needed to tighten up slightly.

Depends if the meeting was for soul searching of the players or a mutiny against the coaches.

Could mean several will be "injured" the rest if the year or it could mean they'll play better. Time will tell.

Well I don't know if I'd consider Texas a good team yet as there are glaring problems on offense and the OL, but they called a meeting after Maryland, and since have been playing MUCH better (at least on defense which was the biggest issue against Maryland).

Basically, don't give up yet. No, seriously, give O a couple more years to turn it around. At least give him until LSU plays Texas .

I am not saying this to be dramatic, but I have never seen as much fingerpointing as we are seeing now among the players and head coach.

If these players need pride instilled in them by coaching... they don't need to be on this team.

Pride is internal. It's not something someone gives you or tells you to have. You have pride or you don't. It's something that you get by going through life experiences.

You are right in that they have no pride. But that's because they are inmature bad apples.

You are getting a free scholarship and get to play in the SEC in front of 100K people a week. If you can be halfway decent, you are pretty much guaranteed, at worst, a free agent shot at an NFL training camp.

If that doesn't give you all the pride you need... no amount of pressure from coaches, teammates, etc, is going to help.

No, you do not, but older LEADERS can make a diff.

FL won an NC after one.

Yes, but that only worked because Aaron Hernandez threatened to kill whoever he felt wasn't giving 110% following the meeting.
