We hired a position coach from a rival school to be our DC. Our previous DC left on his own - to another rival school - he didn't want to be here any more.
There is no way he was our #1 choice unless one literally think Miles is retarded. We had to settle.
The coaching community has taken a vote and they've come down as negatigers.

I feel better today than yesterday. I really believe Les had some options and I think K.S. can get it done.

5/10....meh
the guy has HC and DC experience and is a proven recruiter
...but he didn't really prove anything with the HC and DC experience
it appears the guy is a really good interview

you act like we hired a guy with no experience

I really have no idea how he will do
But if you put a gun to my head I'm giving it a 3
He has until week 4 to get the defense into top form. If he can't do that with the talent in the back 7 and at DT then I'll consider it a failure.

I honestly think I could suck as bad as he did with that experience at Baylor and Im sure I could take Clemson's defense from top 20 to 70+ as well. I don't even think I would have to try that much.

Waiting to see how our recruiting class finishes, how our defense looks on the field, and whether we continue to pull top level defensive talent.

A top program doesn't hire someone who is heading in the OPPOSITE direction on the coaching ladder!!
A top program isn't a reclamation project for frick's sake.
And you know what, I'm not saying the above because I think that's what Miles WANTED to do. I think Miles KNOWS that a top program hires an ACTUAL COORDINATOR.
I think that he couldn't, and trust me, he COULDN'T, is VERY telling.

6/10. We have no idea what this guy will do. He has tons of experience and is a great recruiter. Sit back, relax and let it play out.

Do you really equate winning 1 conference game as the HC of Baylor in 4 seasons anything that any HS HC off the street couldn't accomplish?
His ONE win?? Kansas. Who went 0-8 in conference and was probably the worst team in 2002 and they barely won.

well he could
I promise Miles could have hired a current DC. It might not have been a top name DC, but Miles could have hired a current DC, that I have no doubt.
I think it is pretty obvious that Steele is really respected in the coaching community.

Oh stop it.
You know as well as I do that what happens this fall doesn't matter at all.
Our defense could suck arse and we could lose 6 and you'd come in here making excuses for "adjusting to new scheme" and how we "can't blame Miles for Chavis up and leaving".
Give it a rest. You already KNOW exactly what you'll do this fall.

6/10......the coach can recruit I give him that. You can't compare Clemson's defensive talent versus LSUs talent. Cupboards full here!!! Steele will have more to work with then in the past.
