I was there that night..... It was an electric atmosphere. If I remember right, Roland Barbay was on his official visit and got caught up in the excitement of the crowd and committed that night.

So was I.

I had actually talked to Pete Jenkins that afternoon outside the dressing room in Tiger Stadium about some of us having pro-Barbay coming to LSU signs and doing pro-Barbay chants. They worked.

"If you didn't get in line at least two hours before the gates opened for the student section you might have gotten turned away."

Fact.
Or if you knew one of the ticket-takers, like an older buddy of mine did. The noise, the emotion at the Assembly Center in those days was like a controlled riot

I can imagine it is hard to believe what it was like back then for the younger current crop of students/fans that have to endure the current state of LSU basketball.

Lsu basketball ruled in the 80s early 90s. If there would have been a three point line anthony wilson would still hold the record. Although andrew tony from ULL was also a pretty good shot from there also a little shooter named chris jackson!

Hey 1984 Tiger, I bet that I know you. I'll give you a hint, one of your teachers at RHS is my best friend. My sister graduated in the '76 class. That 76 class is still referred as the glamor girl's class.

I didn't go to hoops when I was at LSU, so I didn't know much about the team or their nicknames. DT did tell me they called him PacMan because of his addiction. I didn't start going to hoops until Shaq was there and I was out of school.

Leonard Mitchell is active in the BR community and I believe he has big brother type homes and programs???

There is an update on the recruiting board about David Taylor, who is Derrick's son, being recruited by LSU.
