With Teuhema gone, that should free up a scholarship, right? If so, wouldn't it make sense to bring in a talented junior college OL to shore up our line?

Yeah, maybe for next year. Our main concern is this season, our first game is only 30 days away.

No, I'm wondering if we could bring someone in now. I know the OL, no doubt, has a steep learning curve, but a JC transfer might could adjust and contribute more quickly.

I just read that little Jefferson took the 85th scholarship yesterday and put LSU at the camp limit of 105.

This isn't the NFL, there are no street free agents. There isn't gonna be an SEC caliber offensive lineman just sitting around waiting around for a 2017 spot to open up a month before the season.

So, we have all these people leaving, some transferring out and there is no way we can get a talented OL to transfer in?

I'm sure O's looking at his options. Maybe there's a talented student who can walk-on? Desperate times...

Although there's no doubt that depth is a serious concern this year, I don't think that these are desperate times. Keep in mind that the staff pretty much knew that they couldn't count on him for a while now so it's not like this is as much of a last minute thing that it seems to be from our perspective.

I guess we could ask Trai Turner if he wants to come back and play for us. I think he had 2 years of eligibility left, think he'll go for it?

Here are the notable bodies LSU has for the Oline:

KJ Malone - Senior OT
Toby Weathersby - Junior OT
Will Clapp - Junior OG/C
Garrett Brumfield - Junior OG
Lloyd Cushenberry - RS Freshman C

Adrian MaGee - Sophomore OG
Donavaughn Campbell - Sophomore OG
Austin Decalus - Freshman OG/OT
Jakori Savage - RS Freshman OG
Ed Ingram - Freshman OG
Saahdiq Charles - Freshman OG

LSU only viable backup at tackle is a true freshman. Guard has a bit more depth, but they're all inexperienced. LSU is a couple of injuries away from disaster.

Lets hope for no disasters.

I think Canada can adjust the playcalling if a youngster has to be thrown ito the fire.

That was not the case with Les.

I made this statement about Grimes (JUCO Badara Treore) in May.

I think it's even more relevant now...

I think Savage could play tackle.

That's the point. Just one injury at tackle and LSU is now playing at least one guy out of position just to have some depth.

Charles can definitely play RT as well...in fact he might be our starter their in a couple of seasons. Savage has a potential future at tackle as well. Not saying depth isn't a concern, but we have more than 3 bodies that can play the position.

Campbell is very close to being a starter as well. If they decide to keep Clapp at C, expect Campbell to be a starter on day 1.

They are going to have to bring some of the blocking tight ends in to back up tackle positions if we loose anyone else.

We better start recruiting JUCO OLs for 2018 signing class! Or we'll be screwed for next year too.
