"Maybe we should put some people in our shoes," Ohio State quarterback Todd Boeckman said. "It's tough going through the Big Ten. It's brutal. Teams come at you each and every week and they're always tough, hard-nosed football games. It's a very, very tough thing to do."

Now thats pure hilarity.

Kind of true because they are the team to beat in that conf. Thats every other teams big game in the Big 10.

Why is that so funny? It isn't like the Big X is that weak of a conference. It isn't the SEC but not many other conferences out there are any better.

And how is that crying in the first place?

Whether you think the Big10 is down or not...

Every team comes ready to play Ohio State.

The big ten? Come on...they got USC this year and mad respect for it. But you can't tell me that conference is that big of a deal.

Michigan is garbage. Illinois, the other decent team, struggles like no other. I mean, come on.

The Pac-10, SEC, and Big 12 are all tougher. I might even venture out and say the Big East would give them competition.

Did we forget about Penn State and Wisconsin, who are pretty good teams year in and year out?

I don't think the Pac-10 is better, I think the Big 12 is equal, and the ACC and Big East are still behind IMO.

Luckily, we get four big OOC games with the Pac 10, so we'll see.

Wisconsin, Penn St, MSU, and even Purdue will all be better than Illinois this year, IMO.

2006:
Ohio State < Florida 41-14
Wisconsin > Arkansas 17-14
Penn State > Tennessee 20-10

2007:
Michigan > Florida 41-35
Wisconsin < Tennessee 17-21
Ohio State < LSU 38-24

For being so weak, those sure are some close bowl games(other than tOSU). Hell, take Ohio State out of the equation and the Big10>SEC in bowl games the past two years.
Currently running .500 in those bowl games.
As stated before, we may be down, but we're not pathetic.

Penn St. will never be a power again until Paterno leaves. That offense will suck until he retires. Could be a national power again.

Wisconsin is fluky. Perpetual 8-4 or 7-5 team.

The word "Brutal" should only be used to describe the SEC. Todd just chose a poor word to describe his conference.

Maybe something like "pretty good" or "not bad" or "brutal, but not SEC brutal" would have sufficed. I would even have been okay if he had said "It's no walk in the park". Very literary. But the use of "brutal" was a miserable one and wrong on a number of levels.

Otherwise I see nothing wrong with his comment.

I don't think anyone would argue the Big X is "pathetic." We just think Boeckman was a little melodramatic in his description of Big X play.

Excuse me...lets throw in some really pathetic teams in there to boost that schedule. I can't remember Wisconsin making it out of the Outback bowl in years.

The day I say this in defense of my conference will be a sad day indeed.
