Official Sunshine Pumper Offseason Changes Thread
Posted by GeauxPack81 on 11/25/15 at 9:47 am623
For Sunshine Pumpers and Positigers only:
The negatigers have painted us as a naive group that think everything is perfectly fine. That is not the case. We know that changes need to occur in order for this team to reach its potential. As we can all agree that Les should stay at least through 2016 (and hopefully he does), lets look at what changes should/will happen.
1) Bradley Dale Peveto MUST be fired. This isn't one of those situations where we can excuse one year because he has done well in the past. He has always been a failure here. I understand he is a good recruiter, but that really shouldn't make a difference. Hire someone that is just as good of a recruiter that actually has some sense as a coach.
2)Offense has to change. This is where Alleva needs to step in IMO. They have already taken steps to not renew Cameron's contract, so lets assume there is a change. While we all like Les, we aren't oblivious to his unwillingness to change. MAKE him change. Alleva should be very heavily involved in the recruiting of a new OC whether Miles likes it or not. We cannot let Les hire another one of his buddies that will just agree with everything he wants to do. We need a smart, proven OC, that can develop QBs as well as bring a modern approach to Miles' offensive philosophy (don't turn the ball over, control the LOS, convert 3rd downs, win TOP). The ideal candidate, while very unlikely to happen, has got to be Lane Kiffen.
3)Fix the defense. I'm not entirely sure how my fellow sunshine pumpers feel about Steele, but I think he needs to go. I think he was a flop of a hire. I think we hired a proven failure as DC and he did nothing but make us worse in every phase than we were last year. Therefore, I think the solution is to give him the Brick Haley treatment. Do not fire him, just make him LBs coach. He has been a decent LBs coach and will be a great recruiter moving forward. Now whether or not he will accept a demotion is another topic, but I can't imagine he will have a ton of other job offers out there for him. Once you open up the DC spot, we need to get Alleva involved in this one as well. The truth is, I just don't trust Miles to make these types of important hires anymore. We cannot lose the LSU defense perception. We don't need a good coach, we need a GREAT defensive coordinator that will shut down opposing offenses. Ideal candidates IMO are Dave Aranda (DC Wisconsin), Bud Foster (DC VT), Don Brown (DC BC)
Now for the real sunshine pumping. We need to do the things I mentioned earlier to not only keep the recruiting class intact, but to also utilize more efficiently the talent we have on the current roster. Hopefully we can keep Orgeron, Raymond, and Wilson on the staff as well. If we do these things, I don't see any reason why we aren't competing for SEC and NCAA championships next season. 2016 is our year, now don't screw this up Miles/Alleva!

The amount of denial that some Miles' fans are filled with is amazing.

I better definition of insanity is posting a quote that has been debunked many times, believing that it is real.

Still a huge Les fan. He's not leaving anytime soon imo.
May be some changes happening, but that's LSU's job, not mine.

Offense has to change
Even Miles' supporters admit he isn't capable of change this late in his career. I wish it were that easy, but after several hires and no payoff I don't know what you expect. If Les is going to win championships, he's going to do It with this offense, and I don't see that happening.

The NegaTigers went into Hog Heaven after the Arky loss and have done everything they can to destroy Coach Miles. The damage is so severe I don't think coach can survive. So now they get their wish of a total dismantling of a successful program. We get in return a gamble of the unknown. We will lose our current recruiting class until a new coach is hired. History shows the first year recruiting for a new coach is his worst.
If the new coach does not go undefeated and win a NC in two years they will go after that coach as well. Just the way it is now with this segment of our fan base. I'll support whoever the coach is for next year because I'm solid LSU!

That will fix everything. We just need an OC that will say "frick you, boss! I'm running my offense, not yours!"
What planet do you people come from?
