Offensive woes and what it will take to advance

So, I just did a quick calculation of our postseason (regional on) averages. Assuming I didn't make any mistakes (did it manually):
We've got 1 guy who has upped his average (Fraley)
We have 4 guys hitting at least 110 points lower than their regular season average (Bregman, Hale, Sciambra, and Chinea.)
3 are hitting at least 50 points lower (Stevenson, Scivique, and Laird)
and 1 who is about the same (Foster 30 points down)
Maybe we get a superman performance out of Lange on Tue. But, we need 3 or 4 things to change for the better for us to have a chance after that.
Bregman seems to be out of his slump. Fraley has been rock solid all along.
To me, it boils down to Scivique (who hasn't been terrible), Hale (who has been garbage) and Chinea (who seems to be whiffing more than making contact these days). This seems like a reasonable hope given what we've seen all year.
Stevenson and Laird will probably slap a few hits together. Foster will be Foster. And, Sciambra is lagniappe, IMO. But, without the 3 above making solid contact, I don't think we can climb the mountain.

First you have to care. I'm not convinced this club actually cares. To me, that was the trademark of Skip's teams in post season.

That's ridiculous.

I don't think it's so ridiculous. It'd be interesting to see if things would be any different if the draft were held AFTER Omaha and not before. In other words, wait till afterwards before you go figuring out what you're gonna blow your big signing bonus on.
Then again, the hitting has sucked since well before the draft so...who knows.

It's like march madness, win and advance. It can be done. Win four in a row and all's forgiven.
Bats, we don't have the bats. Prove me wrong, Tigers.

We did nothing against UNC Wilmington twice and underachieved badly against ULL twice. Thankfully, because he have stud pitching, it was just enough.
That's not good news when your next dose of poison is either Vanderbilt or Fullerton.

Analytically speaking, it's hard to explain how a team with numbers like LSU's finds itself in this position. But, it's definitely not all of a sudden.
We draw possibly the easiest road to Omaha, and it still was made very difficult. It took half a game to produce offensively against the likes of Lehigh. Then, two 2-0 wins. The two victories over ULL were painstaking. We were doubled in hits in the first win, and leading 1-0 late in the finale.
When was the last time Bregman really squared up a ball? Bleeder b/w short and third, blunder up the middle, infield hit, etc. Just can't remember a gapper off his bat. And that's our 3 hole hitter.
Factor in that Bugg is the only reliever that we can have any consistent confidence in to deliver, and it's really asking too much for this team to make a run. Sure, Lange can go out and own somebody, but I don't see anybody taking 2 out of 3 from the likes of Florida right now.
