First of all I think Les is a great person and a very good coach and recruiter and motivator. But like with all schools complacency can set in over a period of time and we are getting outcoached by younger more creative minds. I do believe that the head coach isn't as involved with the actual play calling as the coordinators but their philosophy's are followed. What bothered me most about the alabama and arkansas games was the inability to spread the field and open up the running lanes inside. In the past we have used the jet sweep to keep that end from crashing down into the middle and the outside linebackers had to maintain leverage outside which opened up the inside. We also used the bubble screen and option. Even when they were uneffective it created running lanes inside. Our offense is either run it up the middle or throw it deep. I think most high school defensive coordinators can scheme to take those away. Now we can obviously out physical teams that have inferior talent. We will always struggle with more physical teams that have the playmakers to stop the run if we do nothing to keep the defensive ends and linebackers from crashing down inside. For the one promising drive we had we used the tight end over the middle. That can also help keep the linebackers and safeties from cheating up.

As for defense I think we are very thin and it shows. Being thin on defense particularly at linebacker not only hurts you on defense but it is where most of your special teams players come from. I wasn't happy with the steele hiring and nothing I have seen as changed my mind to date. He may prove to be adequate with a good class of recruits but I think that is his limit. I would promote Orgeron in order to keep him on staff and switch steele to linebacker coach or another administrative position.
With all that said Geaux Tigers. I will always support my school and the players who choose to attend. Shame on those of you who left while we were only down 10.
