Quoted from September 25th
quote:

“First thing Matt came up with was, ‘Coach, we’ve got too much in. We need to simplify. We’re going to streamline what we’re doing and do what our players do best, which is play LSU football.”

And then today, he says it was his idea...

quote:

You know, execution. Obviously this is Matt's offense. And he brought in -- he implemented every play, everything. I did step in last week for the first time.

I wanted to simplify only the shifts in motions. I knew we were going to start two freshmen linemen, so I wanted the guys to be in place so we knew how to block them.

That's all I've ever done. This is Matt's offense. He runs it. He calls it. He scripts the plays. This is his offense.

I take the "first time part" with a grain of salt.

But then right back to:

quote:

This is Matt's offense. He runs it. He calls it. He scripts the plays. This is his offense.

Unbelievable. Translation: I stepped in but because the results were bad and I've just admitted publicly that I have stepped in, I won't accept responsibility and blame it on someone else.

He's a complete and utter slime ball.

I've got nothing for him as HC or a person.

Is it too hard to believe that our head coach and our offensive coordinator both thought simplifying the offense was a good idea for now?

That's exactly what he has been and will always be. Unfortunately for us Joe fell for his binder trick and "dream school" charade. Now we suffer.

I doubt O put that much thought into it. But I thought O's big selling point was that he would not meddle with his coordinators.

Yea and if Brossette doesn't fumble he would go into the news conference bragging about the 1st play.

He says simplifying motion was his idea. Canada wanted to simplify the offense IE shorten the playbook Pretty clear what he said. And they are two different things.

Canada - run fewer plays (we've got too much in)
O - less motion plays.

The situation sucks. But what some of the people here are harping on is embarrassing how petty it is.

You can see when he is responding to questions extemporaneously that he is not very bright. It's like watching a child lie.

Uhhhh. Uhhhhhhhh. shite. Better say something quick... anything....

Hey O, not all of us are morons. We are going to notice if your story doesn't add up. You got paid. Time to step it up.

Lies are hard to keep up with, Give him a break. People usually buy his horse crap without follow thru. This accountability thing is new to O

Exactly

What Matt wanted to say was"coach, with only practicing 29 minutes I figure we need to cut out like 80% of the playbook"

It speaks to character more than anything. Lies about things to give your team an advantage are kinda understood. Lies about a friend and employee to try to deflect blame are a sign of a failing leader
