Damn I knew he fcks with Snoop, but didn't know he seriously would listen to any rap. Guess he knows how to connect with his kids and ANY player.

It seems that the high-end writers of today love Les Miles. Wright Thompson seems to really enjoy his times with Miles. Scott Van Pelt, though not a writer, from a media perspective really loves Miles.

As a long time LSU fan, I get really frustrated with him on game days. That said, when I think back to the days or Archer, Hallman and DiNardo...and then compare and contrast, I really love Miles.

Miles is not Saban, but what the guy in the article said about Saban is true....he takes the fun out of winning, because fun is not the objective...winning is the objective. With Miles, at least until now, LSU fans get the best of both worlds.

If Miles can manage to sign the class we have our eyes on currently this February, I foresee a lot more fun and a title or two on the horizon as well.

It's actually a matter of style.

LSU itself prefers no periods.

Associated Press style uses no periods on LSU or any other initials that do not spell a word like NFL or FBI. But they will use periods on initials that do, like D.A.R.E.

New York Times always uses the periods on L.S.U., because the letters are each individually pronounced. They would do the same for F.B.I. and C.I.A.

I know... no one cares...

Wow, what a bad article. Scatter-brained with no end game. You're the NYT for crying out loud.

“With Saban as your coach, winning sometimes isn’t even fun,” he said. “The goal of Saban is not to have fun, it’s just to win. With Les, it’s always kind of fun and lighthearted, even if you lose. When you go to a football game you’re paying money to watch people play with a ball. You get your money’s worth with Les.”

Never thought of it this way. It's very true though.

It's a possible perspective, but I don't think it's true for most fans. All I heard was people going nuts on Miles last year after the Bama loss for the fake on 4th and 12, etc.

Les is defintely more fun than Saban though...

I look forward to being in Tiger Stadium 5-10 years after Les retires from here when he makes a return trip and gets honored.

The guy will get a warmer reception than Shaq or any other Tiger. Les will go down as THE man at LSU before its all said and done.

It's not possible to dislike him as a person. He may make you pull your hair out on Saturdays in the fall, but you can't help but love the guy.

thank you. great article. I luv les. I am a positigah posimiles.

I keep trying to wrap my head around this:
It was a stark example of how conflicted L.S.U. fans are when it comes to Miles, and probably always will be. Despite the success of the “Miles Method” — a national title in 2007, two Southeastern Conference titles, 85 career wins — a recent poll found Miles’s overall approval rating (40 percent) in Louisiana to be only three percentage points higher than that of Saban, whom Miles replaced and who now leads rival Alabama to national championships. Public Policy Polling, the group that conducted the poll, said Miles’s rating was “shockingly low for someone who’s accomplished as much as him.”

I cannot separate the intelligence of lsu fans from ignorance. the ranturd coaches on here are anti=miles just to prove their own stupidity.??

And this guy still hasn't gotten past the first top layer of the man, myth and legend that is CLM.

He might have driven me up the wall in the past but I still would not trade him for anyone else. Anyone who says any different is foolishly depending on some other coach to put up record numbers consistently for more than a decade when he is done here.

Same. He hasn't even driven me mad like some people...although I will admit, that Tennessee game near-collapse had me thinking he was a goner...

...until we won somehow.

I was an adamant defender of Miles till this point... the game was as quirky as his personality but somehow like how we won we love Les Miles.

But there is no need to actively defend any longer because in a technical sense the haters are correct but picking out his deficiencies is trumped by his awesome win record that can stand against the greatest coaches of all time.

Les will always frustrate the fan base to varying degrees, but he is one cool, quirky dude that fits like hand in glove with Louisiana.

Negatigers don't give him enough credit for the excellent job he has done since taking over this program. The hardest thing to do is to continue something that is already successful as you normally can only screw it up. Not only has he succeeded, one could easily argue that the program has never been in better shape.
