Not excusing the O Line, but you have to realize the numbers.

Just looking at number of bodies, Bama played 5-2 most of the game. That's one dlineman for every olineman. Even if each lineman was equal with their defensive counterpart, that would still leave two free roaming LBs in the box, not to mention any safety, etc. So, what happens is that a straight wall is created.

What are the coaches' solution to this? Add more bodies, i.e. a fullback/TE to stuff whatever tiny holes are left, so no holes in the line. Matter cannot pass through matter regardless of Buga power or otherwise. Pure logic should dictate this.

So? Coaching LSU requires no logic.

Ragland only had 3 tackles I believe. Bama's D-line was truly dominant.

Throw TONS more to LF out of the back field. Those LBs cannot keep up w/ him in open space.

The two times they tried, he was WIDE fricking open.

Dillon Lee made some plays. Reuben Foster didn't do much. The D-line made the majority of plays.

Les Miles has to have a low IQ.
I'm not sure how much of a say Cam Cameron has in gameplan/philosophy (not playcalling), so I'm not sure whether to include him in the low IQ category as well.

our TE's could have had a field day last night, but we targeted them exactly 1 time... when you break it all down, at it's essence, we just have terrible, utterly horrible coaching in every phase of the game...

No, not a wall. Walls don't single-handedly destroy you.

he actually doesn't... he's actually very intelligent, though he does have a weird speaking style, even IRL...

even for as much as i love the guy as a person, and as good a man as he is, he's a fricking terrible coach... it's ok to call a spade a spade, even if i really, really like the guy as a person...

Exactly.

We should have been doing this all night. I think the main problem is what you saw. Harris cannot for the life of him hit the underneath routes. This fact is mind boggling to me.

We can all see that Harris can't throw the short ball. The coaches see it too, so they don't scheme for the TE or backs catching passes.

I've never met the guy, but it's crazy how the two obviously aren't correlating like you would expect.

Maybe he has great intellect in some aspects, but critical/analytical/strategic thinking is not his forte.

You do realize that a 7 man box is an advantage for the offense right? It's a base defense against base offense.
Last night Bama actually played mostly 3-4 with the two olbs on the line, once again base.
All that happened is the d line for Bama was the most dominant I've seen in a very long time.

Agree 100%. They should have spread that defense out with 3 wides and sometimes going with 4 wide. Get those gorillas on bama off the field would have been the solution

How about running wide and not at them all the time. Jet sweeps, counters, reverses, other types of misdirection that every other team in college football runs, except LSU. We run right at you no matter what.

LF was but BH could not get the ball to him. DL penetration and him feeling the pressure caused BH to throw too soon. As soon as we tried and failed we went conservative. Miles will go all out to prevent 2008 type issues. Thinking long and hard about it I have a hard time blaming him for it. But my main criticism is that there are times you just have to trust your QB.
