Normal to be less passionate as we age?

Let me start by saying I'm only 28...but times have changed since I was a student in BR. Gameday was a holiday, each conference game was an edge of the seat affair. A loss would make the ensuing week suck.

Now that I have moved and started my career and whatnot, I feel like the losses (and wins) have less impact on my emotions. When I attend games (a few each year), I still go nuts, but watching games at home doesn't get my nerves jumping anymore.

I'm not a negatiger, so this isn't Les' fault. I still become a basket case for some games...and with some of my other favorite teams. But for LSU football, it's less frequent.

Is this because we are currently in somewhat of a rebuilding year? Is this normal? Is it because I'm not in BR on a fault basis? I don't want to lose that edge...

It happens. Your priorities in life change as you get older.

Yes, unless it involves LSU baseball. Then, no.

Letting Tiger football affect your life beyond midnight on Saturdays is a sign of madness. I now shake it off by noon Sunday

Definitely normal. And I'm right there with you.

Used to ruin my day when LSU would lose. Still don't like it, but it's nowhere what it used to be.

This has happened to me. I am 35, 5 years ago I would be on Auburn's campus right now cracking open a cold one. Today, I am still in my pajamas and loving life and my morning with the kids.

Definitely not a negatiger and I love Les and the team. In other words LSU - it's not you, it's me.

I don't even really get nervous before games anymore. I guess it makes them more enjoyable now. That being said, when we return to SECCG and whatnot I am sure I will get a bit more amped up.

Yep. There's too much actual depressing shite happening in the world for me to truly let me emotions hinge on a football game. I find that I'm just as elated after a big win, but let the losses roll off my back after a few hours. I cringe when I look back on how depressed I'd get after a loss when I was a kid and when I was in college.

Last time a loss truly wrecked my emotions was Spurs losing Game 6 and 7 to the Heat in '13 Finals. For LSU...nothing immediately pops in my head, so maybe 1-9-12.

Agreed. 1/9 was the last game that really upset me over a few days. Mostly because of the stakes and how bad it was. The Miss St loss was similar (lower stakes though) but it didn't affect me that much. Losses used to ruin my weekend. Not anymore. Sure, I hate it, but I get over it quickly.

I'm 49 years old and a passionate LSU fan. Other than the Bama game, I don't get too upset after an LSU loss or too thrilled after an LSU victory.

I do admit that 1-9-12 changed my view of LSU football forever. That game where the team obviously quit the game before the kickoff really changed my perspective on the program and Les Miles.

It happens to most of us. I'm 44 and still get riled up on Gameday, but like you said...the losses don't affect my mood for the week near as much as they use to. I try not to let things that I have ZERO control over, affect my mental state....useless for the most part. Trying to just be a fan and enjoy it FWIW...entertainment. I'll do my share of cussing during a game...can't watch a game on TV with the masses...just a select few die hards friends who won't distract me from the game. Life happens and priorities change over time.

Yes. I used to live and die by LSU sports. I still love my alma mater, but once you get a career, wife, kids, etc., priorities change. I still love game day, but now it's more of a good diversion from reality for me, entertainment if you will. For some reason LSU baseball still can wrack my nerves at times. Maybe it's the slow pace of the game.

Once you have kids you really realize football is just a distraction and hobby I don't give a crap 2 minutes after the game win or lose.

I got absolutely lambasted for admitting that the results of LSU football caused me to do really stupid shite as an adult. Somehow, over the last year or two, I've been able to watch games, enjoy wins, move on from losses with no discernible effects on my life. Maybe it is age. It just took me to about age 48 to get there, not 28.

I wasn't I into in the 70's when I was at LSU. Got into the last decade or so. But at 57 I am a fair weather fan. When it starts making me feel really bad, I pull away.
