What is going on with the decrease in band participation and the increase in piped in music?

We are not the NFL and happily so.

I want the experience of the band and the different songs per down.

The only time I want to hear the loud speakers is in an intro video and the announcer. They are ruining a great LSU/ college tradition with the lack of band and increase piped in music.

I was thinking about this during the MSU game.

Part of the problem this year is the band is down about 30 members and is having trouble projecting volume when the stadium is full. And part of it is the admin scared to death the students will turn every song into a vulgar chant. So they play a song called "Bitch I'm from Lousiana" instead

Speaking of the piped in music....what is the deal with the speakers? I heard nothing coming out of the SEZ. Are there no speakers anywhere but the NEZ scoreboard? It sounds like somebody's Kenwood in their '84 Camaro.

I disagree, I think the band is actually better now but you can't hear them as well because it looks like the size of the band went down a little.

To be fair, they had no chance on Saturday night. Missouri moved so fast there was no time for music or replays or anything between plays. Now if that happens when a normal speed offense takes the field, then that's inexcusable

My biggest knock on Bryant-Denny and Jordan Hare was the way they play music the whole time. Went to Jordan Hare two weeks ago only to find that the same songs are being played at Tiger Stadium. The damn strength coach hyping the crowd at Bama games pisses me off, and now I am pissed that we do the same thing (videos of Tre' White, etc.) It's upsetting to me.

Guys, they had to cut the Band budget due to the economic hardships on the university. There was no way to keep funding the band with our Administrations recent money grab..er...fiscal challenges.

On a totally separate note, how about paying Mile $9M to leave!

I agree. Please control the type of piped in music also. Maybe appease biggest percentage of crowd!

I'm a TB alum and part of a Facebook group of current and former TB members. It blew up this week over some criticism of the band.

I'm okay with the shows but, I have noticed that they rarely play while in the stands.

I loved playing in the stands. It was the best part. It's all memorized music and you get to keep the fans involved. It was fun. I really don't get what they're trying to accomplish. I suspect the director doesn't know much about football and they aren't following the game very closely.

I disagree, I could hardly hear them during the halftime performance.

Piped in music sucks.

Decreasing the size of the band sucks.

The whole situation sucks.

The band director has no say as to what get's played over the speakers. That's the gameday production people. They need to stop the shite and let the band play. It's starting to sound like an arena game.
