This is Saban's total record. He had a 7-6 record his first year at Alabama. I'm not saying O is anywhere near Saban. I was disappointed he didn't use time outs and make in game adjustments. That being said, I have been a Tiger fan since I was born. I went to LSU, I bleed purple and gold. It's easy to sit at a keyboard and bash Coach O, but let's see how this season and next season plays out. I know people are quick to jump the gun with anything on here, but I think true fans will watch no matter what, they just won't go to the game cause Alleva and administration killed tailgating by charging $40 parking and being money hungry, but they make sure people in the suite's have their liquor but oh no, not people sitting in the stands 20 feet away. It's ridiculous. (a little off topic there at the end, sorry)

I'll definitely watch. Always do. I don't have to be positive about it though.

Yes, O's history definitely suggests he knows how to take downtrodden programs and build them into elite level winners.

I'm stoked.

Coach O has never shown he can fix or sustain a program. We continue to see evidence of it

His Ole Miss record alone
You're right, but I have a hard time dismissing someone that has the passion he has for Louisiana. Now if he doesn't show improvement the rest of the season, and next season, I'm all for showing him the door. Alleva too for that matter.

He only had passion for Louisiana when no one else would hire him.

Saban inherited a mess.....to compare Orgeron with the Nicktator is about like comparing Tiny Tim to Eric Clapton.....

How does this influence your feelings on his coaching ability in any way? Why is the fact that he's from Louisiana enough for some people to overlook the glaring issues he's shown as a head coach?

I'm from LA, born and raised. I don't give a single frick whether the head coach of LSU is from LA or China.

Nick Saban had two college head coaching jobs before Alabama. He rebuilt Michigan St and Lsu into powers, won a national title. He was also a successful defensive coordinator in the NFL.

Orgeron has a prior job as well. He failed miserably. He has no track record of success at anything higher than a positional level.

The equating of Orgeron to Saban and Meyer losing a game shows a level of willful blindness and logical ineptitude that is frankly astounding.

LOL every fan of a first year coach struggling always says "Saban went 7-6 in his first year at Bama". Go look at the UGA message boards last year when they didn't look good. Dozens of posts about Saban going 7-6 his first year at Bama. Saban took over a program leveled by probation and scholarship limitations. UA had lost 4 coaches in the previous 6 years (3 were fired and one went to TAM)and the records prior to his arrival were 3-8, 7-5, 10-3, 4-9, 6-6, 10-2, and 6-7. O took over a program that has recruited top 5 classes for years. Newsflash, O aint Saban.

This.

If O had a previous nc at another school and had just left the NFL....I would probably give him a slight pass for this loss

It makes no sense

Saban proved his ability twice before and actually took over a bad program

No Crap. Can we never compare O to saban, belechik, or even miles ever again.

He doesn't get a pass for anything because he's never proven anything.

He was a very high risk hire, which gives you zero room for error. Not the same as a guy shitting the bed in one game.

holy shite.

by the time saban arrived at bama his resume consisted of turning the Cleveland Browns into the #1 ranked defense in the NFL and had turned lsu from an also ran into a powerhouse.

the 2 situations are nothing alike
