If ever there would be a consensus #1 draft pick, it would be Fournette. He will so so coveted by every team. They are already salivating over the thought. I think next year, NFL teams will be playing to lose in order to get him. Hell, if I was Jerry Jones, I'd throw every game to get him!

But how the NFL rookie salary cap does not violate anti-trust and anti-collusion laws, I just don't understand. Matt Ryan gets something like a $70 million contract as a #1 choice, but now, because a union agrees with their masters, that is capped at around $22 million for a #1 choice. How is that fair to #7? He was not part of making that agreement. He didn't have others (union dumbasses) bargaining for him in good faith. He should be able to sign for what the market can bear and negotiate for a contract that he wants, not what someone says you take, or leave it.

Would he be better to sit out a year after the draft, then negotiate a better deal with whichever team he feels can benefit the most (and pay the most)? It's not like his skills would go away. Look at Adrian Peterson. He was out a year. In the last two games he has four touchdowns and 250+ yards rushing.

andrew luck

i don't think LF, being a RB, is a lock at #1

that says nothing about LF and everything about NFL economics

not having the threat of a $40-50M contract is better for LF in terms of his draft position anyway. less risk for the NFL team

I doubt Fournette ends up as the #1 pick because of the position he plays

RBs don't go #1. First round without a doubt. But not #1.
