New football technology will change football practice and safety on all levels. It will also reduce injuries at practice and have a positive impact, while simulating football players running on the field. It is in the testing phase right now. Check it out.

Dartmouth University is the creator of the technology called: Mobile Virtual Player (MVP).

If I wanted to watch soccer I'd tuck my sack and move to France.

Would loved to see a team tackling that bullshite all offseason and then trying to tackle Leonard Fournette during the season

Completely useless and whichever team uses it will have 3000 missed tackles during the season.

Ole Buddy Teevens has gone full circle the last 25 years. Dartmouth...to Tulane...to Florida (qb coach)...to Stanford...to Dartmouth.

That's embarrassing.

No way to become a great tackler without live tackling practice with players.

reminds me of an arcade game that I used to love to play, it was a robot football game but can't remember the name of it.

It's a tackling dummy. It's not going to replace player-to-player contact entirely (or at least it shouldn't, if you have a decent coaching staff). It's going to supplement it. Just like stationary tackling dummies don't eliminate player-to-player contact, neither will this. It's just another tool. If used in that way, then yeah, it could be pretty useful I think.

These are new?!? Pretty sure A&M's defense has been using these as evidenced by their run defense.

I actually think these would be handy as a coach. You could repetitively simulate the exact same thing every time. Let's say you want to work blocking assignments, or figure out coverages, you could use these to quickly simulate shifts and things for your players to address.

Further, you could simulate a defensive line for example while working with just your line backers, allowing your actual DL to go do something else.

I don't see them as at all relevant to a tackling or contact discussion. Just an Xs and Os kinda thing.

jeez. It's a practice aid.

No O-lineman will ever become great by merely pushing a blocking sled. Got to block real, live defenders, who are actually pushing back with strength and trying to shed the block to really learn the craft.

Pretty fricking obvious.

Running backs will love these bots. They will likely receive the most benefit as they are the ones who get pounded on the most.
