I had this discussion with some pals a few days ago, and I wanted to get some opinions on here.

With the new Death Valley South Endzone Upper Deck addition being completed in time for this football season...let's just say LSU gets into an overtime game this year. Let's also just say LSU loses the coin flip and the other team (can be the gumps or Ole Miss or whoever) selects to play defense first.

We then are in charge of choosing which endzone to play overtime in. Would you select:
A. - North Endzone
B. - South Endzone

North Endzone has the student section which is typically very loud, but lately the students haven't filled up that part at the top and can be known for leaving games early to go party in Tigerland. North Endzone also features the greatest band in the country playing songs in between each play.

South Endzone isn't quite as loud, but the addition of the upper deck will make it appear more intimidating and those fans tend to stay the entire game.

How will the new addition affect wind direction? I guess that could play a factor.

Not in close good SEC games. If it goes to OT, they'll be there imho. (unless we blew a big lead to a shitty team)

If the game is close, and it's an SEC game, the student section should be filled still

1. This is really overblown
2. Other people leave early/don't show up. It's not just students.
2. Students are still the loudest and most enthusiastic people in all of Tiger Stadium.

We'll at least we don't have to count on the lower sideline crowd. They think cheering is everyone else's job

I was really disappointed with the student section during the Florida game last year. There was an entire section empty to the right of the score board at the top. Hopefully, it has been made available to season ticket holders...

It's also where the opposing fans and band sit

The answer is North Endzone, always

that's bc its general admission and students crowd to the bottom of the section. in no way is it a new phenomenon or an indictment of the students of a lack of attendance. those sections are always sparse.

And that's where you are wrong sir!!!! Evidently those were law school tickets and they had to study for mid-terms... Don't ever remember having an entire section empty for Florida in the past...

This. If they oversold the student section more, this wouldn't be an issue. The other problem is that getting through the student gate is such a huge hassle (long lines, have to have your ID, ID and/or tickets don't always work, you have to get patted down, they confiscate mace and liquids, the people working the gate treat you like criminals, ect) that if the conditions aren't right, they don't want to go. The Florida game was insanely hot and traffic was so bad getting to the stadium that there were tens of thousands of people who never made it because they were stuck in traffic.

Have you ever tried to get through the student gate? If you don't arrive an hour and a half before kickoff, the line stretches around the stadium. It takes lots of people until the end of the first quarter just to get through the line. They treat you like criminals and herd you like cattle. I didn't realize how bad it was until one game last season when I went with some friends who had season tickets one section over in the reserved seating. There were ample ticket scanners, and everyone was friendly and kind, no pat downs, ect. It was just so seamless and easy to get into the stands and find our seats just in time for the band to ripple up and do pre-game.

It really is becoming such a hostile environment towards the students that the ones who aren't die-hards don't really see it being worth the hassle.

Yeah, I didn't seem to have any issues waiting in line wasted off my arse with a drink in hand 45 min prior to kickoff... Yeah we turning into sissies evidently... Such a shame.

Please keep telling us about the "hostile" environment for the cheapest tickets in the house

It really chaps my arse that they don't appreciate the Death Valley experience. It's a privilege to go to games... Not a chore!!!!!

If we are in an overtime situation such as that.............student section will still be full.
