I like home runs, no love home runs, but Id rather watch this brand of baseball than mid to late 90s ball.
Home runs, or any hits for that matter, aren't supposed to come off of the handle of the bat. Nor should guys krobs size rack up on a bunch of homers.
The game needs to be true to the pitchers and hitters. Cheap breaking balls are just as bad as cheap homers. This new ball was a great step in the right direction, maybe the last step, maybe one more small step needs to be taken.

I understand your viewpoint, but I just disagree. Baseball, by its very nature, is a slow game. If you combine that with limited offense, you just don't have an excited product on the field to watch. The pro game is dying a slow death (MLB fans are old and not enough younger fans are replacing them).

Admittedly, I'm not a purist or traditionalist (although I'm 51 years old). I think the game needs major tweaking to speed it up and to get a lot more offense. You're seeing it in the college game with the new ball and in the pro game with some changes aimed at speeding it up.

Everyone knows what needs to be done, but small, marginal tweaks around the margins isn't going to cut it.

I trust this is sarcasm.

The All-Time record is 1.88 held by LSU in 1997 back when the bats were ridculous.

Why would you think I am being sarcastic? 0.41 to 0.92 is doubling the numbers from last season. Not sure how much you understand about baseball but it will never reach 1.88/game so a median would be nice and guess where that would be....

1.00!!!!!

You have 0 perspective on historical home run rates.

FYI

Belmont is at 1.52/game which is sick compared to previous seasons with the new bats and old balls.

2014
1. Tenn Tech - 1.41 (They were an anomaly)
2. Georgia St - 1.07
3. Davidson - 1.04

2013
1. Western Carolina - 1.20
2. ULL - 1.17
3. Citadel - 1.10

2012
1. UALR - 1.22
1. Eastern Kentucky - 1.22
3. Florida - 1.12

This link is more helpful than those numbers. You can't use a couple teams out of 300 to support any sort of argument about offensive statistics. LINK

Furthermore, we really don't know how much the new balls have helped. Need a couple more years of data.

i would say our hitting coach has made a more difference then the balls have

Our hitting coach has not had nearly as much success with our freshman as with our upperclassmen, even though he has spent an equivalent amount of time with them. Ergo, it's not the coach, it's that they are upperclassmen.

He's been a big positive on the base paths, though.

I didn't mean for my comments to be limited to home runs. I actually don't like home runs that much - a guy hits a ball over a fence and jogs around the bases).

I don't really care much where the scoring comes from, just so long as more offense occurs. And the new ball is helping some, but not nearly as much as needed.

If by speed it up, you mean make the game not last as long, you can't really do that and add a lot more offense. There's no time limit in a baseball game. All 27 outs have to be made for both teams. I think part of the reason for switching to the BBCOR bats was to shorten the game, along with safety and to reduce high scoring/homerun rates.
