First I just want to say, Ed Orgeron created and executed one of the most commendable subtle ploys to gain this job. It wasn't wins that got him this job, his wins here aren't that impressive, it was the support he garnered that made it an easy cop out for alleva. He first off, used Derek Ponamsky to give him an unofficial voice in Baton Rouge through certain media outlets, then he opens the program to former players, next he gives the media access they have never been accustomed to, and finally he was able to rally the players 100% behind him.

Fans listen to the radio and hear positive things about O, fans who follow former players hear them singing his praise for allowing them back into the program, and to top it off fans see current players straight up saying they want O to be head coach.

And for that I applaud coach o like no other, it was masterful.

My problem comes squarely with Alleva and the way he ran this "search". It wasn't a search at all, it was an effort by Alleva to gain a top 5 coach for a bargain. He placed his chips in two baskets, knowing he had O. I have no problem with striking out on Herman and Fisher while trying to swing for the home run, Alleva did not do that. He got mad the pitcher was throwing curveballs so he left the plate and went home.

If Alleva wanted a top 5 head coach in fisher and Herman no one would've batted an eye, and said well they want too much money.. LSU can and should hire the best, we had the highest paid staff in CFB this past year, and decided they weren't the best so we will pony up the money to fire them and pay for a brand new staff. It's been 12 years since LSU last had to hire a coach, so I understand if some didn't understand the market value for a top tier head coach. My problem isn't with Fisher trying to milk LSU for money or using us to get a raise, my problem falls with Herman and the lack of even entertaining other coaches.

Herman has had success every where he has been, and he has proven himself over and over again. Alleva had the deal in place, and just because Herman had the slight interest to hear someone else out, something Alleva didn't do at all during this search, Alleva lost it. He not only didn't he even meet with Herman, but cancelled it and said frick you, I'm better than wasting my time on your uncertainty.

Now onto O, who I believe is severely under qualified and limited for this job. He has no coordinator experience, and who flopped tremendously as a HC. My fear is he will be completely reliant on great coordinators, and great coordinators do not stay coordinators for long. You look at great head coaches who specialize on one side of the ball, if Sabans defensive coordinator flops, he can take over to right the ship. If hermans offensive coordinator flops, he can take over. You get my example, O however, can do neither. That is what I am afraid of, because if O's coordinators flop, we are in severe trouble. A bad hire sets the program back and takes a while to recover from.

Now with all that said, I know it is long winded, I fully support O, but do not have full confidence in him.

Too bad provincial, backwoods Louisiana glad-handing and schmoozing have almost nothing to do with winning games on the field.

Herman and Fisher were scared to play in same division as nick Saban. Spin it how you want to but Fisher already has a kush job and Herman only wanted to deal with Saban if he was getting an arse load of money to do so. Bottom line the SEC and Saban were too big for Herman and Jimbo and that is the truth. Accepting the Texas offer and Jimbo staying at FSU ensured them only seeing Saban if they somehow made the playoffs instead of him being their road block to the playoffs.

Half the fan base understand what you are saying. Other half dont care, he talks funny and makes good gumbo. That is more important to those dumbasses.

thats poetic. frick Alleva. He should have tried harder with the extra 2 months he had. O is our coach now, and I wish him best.

So giving the job to Coach O, what did that get us?
A shot at Lane Kiffin. Kiffin had to be tweaked by Saban because his pass plays weren't working against Aurburn the fist half. Saban said run the ball.

Is Coach O the guy to tweak Lane when he needs it. Friends typically don't do that to each other.
