I think the combination of Steel and O, will make the Defense better.

The key, as always, is the QB. I like Jennings, but if he never saw the field again I would not be upset. I am willing to have a 3 loss season with Harris at QB for the possibility of an undefeated season there after, rather than a 1-2 loss season still being average at best on Offense. That may sound crazy but I just feel like with AJ, LSU will only be a "decent" offense with him, whereas BH may make mistakes at times but gives us a more prolific offense and more attractive to top offensive weapons.

Look no further than the spring game. With AJ at QB, LSU ran the normal 2 WR offense. WE looked pretty good. With BH at QB, we were in pistol and shotgun with a wide open offense and it was exciting.

I will hope Les tries something different for the sake of LSU football long term. I think LSU could get into the playoffs this year with 1 or even 2 losses with AJ. But it would be fools gold like when LSU went to the NC with Jordan Jefferson at QB. Yes we were in the NC, but we felt like an average team because of the O even though were the #1 team in the country.

Breaux, they aint going 11-1 with AJ starting all 12 games. Harris must play for LSU to contend.

Currently 28/1 to win the National Title next year. Get on it.

You have a very selective memory. Both ran I-form and spread formations, Brandon slightly more so that he could run. AJ is the better pocket passer and it shows in his ball placement compared to BH. If Brandon can learn the position better then he'll overtake Anthony on physical abilities alone.

Therein lies one of the fundamental problems. The fan base seems to settle for "pretty good".

I said what I saw not that I liked it. We looked pretty good under AJ and that won't get it done. Did you not read my entire post?

BH ran more shotgun and pistol than AJ. It is not even close. BH ran some base O, but when his first 2 drives are in the gun and AJ's were not, then there are differences in the 2 and the coaches use them differently.

Worst case I see is one SEC hiccup to go 12-1.

Really??? In the absolute worst scenario you can imagine, we only lose one game???

Optimism is good; but delusion isn't.

We still have QB issues. And if that's not cured, we could see a repeat of last year.

It does not matter how good our offensive line and running backs are if Jennings does improve drastically (I say Jennings because we know Harris will not play - same song, different verse).

The entire success of this season rests almost entirely on how well Anthony Jennings plays QB.

Think about that for a second.

I would hardly refer to our talent and depth as delusional. We HAD perhaps a QB inexperience issue, not anymore. You WILL see an appreciatable difference!

Just for the record...how good the OL is will probably determine how good the play will be at QB, not the other way round...but obviously each will feed off each other...btw, we still need one more dominating OL...if the QBs are able to feel some confidence and Cam won't be forced to telegraph play selection, the offense could be good enough to contend...'cause I feel the defense will be more of a help this year by attacking, as opposed to just bending and hoping not to break...jmho

In addition to those, the D is gonna have to step up. Specifically the front 7

Is there much chance that Gilmore and/or Herron will step up this year?

Not impressive so far...I'm still hoping that Valentine makes it to the field...if he does, the defense could be impressive...then we would have 4 solid DTs...4 good DEs....our best set of LBs in several years...and we are DBU! I rest my case...lol

One question... Does anyone know if Steele and/or Orgeron will be in the box or on the sideline? I wouldn't mind seeing both of them on the sideline. Cam too, I don't remember if Cam is usually in the box, but I think he is.

Because LSU was so poor at QB last year, they are getting largely overlooked by the media. Hell that troll Bo Bounds has already eliminated them from contention from the West.

The truth is they went 8-4 last season with horrendous QB play. They will be better at every level this coming year......RB, WR, TE, OL, DL, DE, LB, and secondary. They are going to surprise a lot of these "experts" early on. I think at one point Vegas had them top 10 to win it all this year....so Vegas isn't bias.

I still think you are like 12 or something. So, a true freshman that wasn't ready last year, but with lots of talent, will not play because he wasn't ready last year. Yep, makes a lot of sense.

My outlook - has the feel to be one of those years. Still a lot to be said on the field though. Defense has potential to be shutdown and our offense will pound until they eventually wear teams down. With that said, still need a QB to make some throws off the play action. Personally, i don't think AJ is the guy, has happy feet and is not accurate enough to throw over the middle. Go-routes and out routes are about all he's confortable throwing. Hopefully BH steps his game up. Like said before - D Coordinator is question for me. This guy doesn't exactly have an A+ resume. I'm thinking it was due to lack of talent.
