with the regionals starting up tomorrow, lets discuss some memorable moments in regionals past.

some that stick out to me are:

the Long Beach game that Skip was tossed

USC's coach pointing out a fan at third base for calling out his wife

the game LSU broke the record for HR's in a season

probably the best regional memory(ies) for me was having my dad check me out of middle school to go to games when it was the old format. great childhood memories!

Ranuado's start against Baylor in 2009.

Beating ULL 12-2 twice on Sunday in 2002. Matt Heath, Aaron Hill, etc.

The entire crazy arse 2001 regional. Minnesota's center fielder dropping a fly ball out late in the game saves LSU from a 1/4 upset.

1999 regional. Hosting as a 2 seed. East Carolina the 1. LSU loses on Saturday and comes back late to take the first championship game from ECU as the rain approaches. LSU raped ECU the next day to advance.

Those are good ones since the new format.

1990 USC Bret Boone hit like 8 homers in the regional, LSU beat USC on Sun to force 2nd game, big storm comes through, blows part of right field fence in, game postponed till Monday, it was electric.

Ranaudo striking out 14 against Baylor back in 2009 to win 3-2 in extra innings.

Beating Ga Tech 29-13 in 1996 was prob one of the biggest highlights in LSU regional history

Mine would do this as well. I thought I was the luckiest kid in the world getting to leave school early and getting to go to the Box.

Was there for this. Hot as hell. That Sunday game was incredible and then the sky opened up. Boone was sick. And those home runs were mammoth shots.

Game against Fullerton we were down 7-0. Hit back to back to back HR's to make it 7-3. Eventually came back and won.

Mike Gillespie the coach of USC nearly came into the stands during the Championship game of 04. I sat in the bleachers right by 3rd base. I think it was a guy named Jay that sat on the top row. Everyone had been giving Gillespie hell but he said something to Gillespie when walking by the fence and Gillespie started walking towards the stands pointing and yelling. Jay was thrown out and may or may not have lost his season tickets. Can't remember all of the details but it was something like that.

this. i snuck into that game.

with each progressive inning, the left field crowd morphed from mercilessly berating him up and down to just bowing and yelling "Transfer! Transfer!" every time he took the field.
