More impressive first game as Interim HC, Hal Hunter or Coach O? Not even close

Rooting (like all Tiger fans) for Coach O and loved what I saw Sat. night. Still, interesting to note that Hal Hunter's win was actually more impressive (IMHO) than Coach O's..by far. Consider LSU was 2-8, 0-7 vs a 7-3, 4-3 Ark team, we were 12 point dogs and waxed them 35-10, ahead 21-3 at half. I think it is safe to say, that any change in HC midseason often has a very positive impact on a team that is underachieving, but to coach a team to a 25 point win as a 12 point dog on the LAST game of a horrible season is pretty darn good. Also note LSU has only gone winless ONE time in SEC (least of any charter member) and he saved us from this as well.
Now IMHO Coach O is a far superior coach to HH (obvious), but to say he did any better than many would have in game one is not accurate. Time will tell, great start...but Im not ready to book a Dec trip to ATL quite yet...

Because it is history and I felt interesting. I also feel that the sane fan (not me for sure) might consider that a great first game does not mean much...and that ANY change often inspires a good effort.
I love what I see from Coach O so far, but one game vs Missouri will not determine whether this was a good decision.

That 1999 team lost two road games to ranked opponents by 1 pt and had a lot of good players. They were deflated after UGA and Miss st.

Hey, I think the post is excellent! That was such an interesting game (1999 Arkansas). Good times in the Student Section, even though I had graduated. Students attended the game rather sparsely, as I recall.
Besides, at least Cadello didn't start a fourteenth thread on guessing the hurricane's impact on Gainesville Saturday.
