There must me something behind this other then money. This team has plenty of freshmen coming up but if they do not produce then LSU will be decimated, just the fact. Why is LSU losing more players then any other team?

LSU will be fine. Maybe those players are just ready to move on?

What players returning to other schools would be rated higher than players leaving LSU? MOST of the players leaving LSU have pretty high draft grades.
Also, the majority of the players leaving were expected to leave coming into this season.

No, you just want it to be to further justify your dislike of the coach.

LSU generally has better def players. QB are not good in draft this year. I think a lot of it is timing.
Eta. Then=\=than.

I'll go with "Bird in hand" and second that with... Potential risk of injury. But #1 on the list is need/ want for money... Which an NFL contract provides.
Coaching is not a factor....other than to say they have benefitted from good coaching and therefore are NFL ready.

Reid would have stayed if he wouldn't have had his degree. If you are probing for anti miles crap and want to be honest you need to see if more or less JR's at LSU go pro percentage wise. Most teams inclucing LSU don't normally have this many high jr draft pics.

Why are so many of your crybabies whining about these players leaving? Most were said to be leaving before the season started. Now after another embarrasing loss in a bowl game we are blaming the "defection" if that is what you want to call it on coaching. BS!
If they leave good, let them go. Personally the only one that should leave is Minter. The others should stay another year but the $$$ that they are being told they can make will be hard to turn down.......regarless who the coach is!

Les and staff simply recruited great talent that is now NFL ready.
I am sorry to see these guys leave, but all things considered, this crop of juniors is a good sign for incoming studs considering they can go pro as a true or redshirt jr with a LSU degree in hand.
Considering our youth on Offense and Secondary (CBs), injuries, and a tough SEC slate, I don't know what people expect at this point considering Bama, UGA, UF, LSU, USC, and ATM were top 10 teams. When is the last time the SEC had this many? Some need to get a grip.

Let's go down the list one-by-one on the sticky thread.
Wing, Minter, Mingo and Montgomery have more or less maximized their highest potential draft status; they're not going to get drafted much earlier than they are no matter what they might do in 2013. The risk of injury (especially with the DEs and Minter) or possible regression isn't worth the minimal chance of improvement, and short a miracle they won't be able to achieve the one thing that might be worth staying for (a national championship).
Simon, at least as the story goes, has particularly pressing needs for money. Obviously all of the players do, but if I recall right he's got family in need and is leaving now to get a payday. Simon could possibly improve his stock with a better performance (he regressed noticeably from 2011 to 2012), but he's not in a bad spot as it is, and the possibility of blowing it by continuing to regress, or getting injured, is really not worth it.
Reid already has a degree, has little shot at a national title, and thus has little shot to get anything out of staying besides possibly improving his draft status. Reid also regressed, though, and injury or further regression would make staying a waste.
Ware's also presumably satisfied with his draft status. It's not really going up much given the way LSU uses its running backs (not a knock, the running game is fine, it's just that it's not conducive to making a star out of any one player). Teams know what they're getting with Ware. Also not a lot left to play for, and above all other positions running backs should go pro early, given how quickly they're usually out of the league. (Never mind the possibility of ending up like a Marcus Lattimore; thankfully his career isn't over, but any injury like the ones he's sustained for multiple years now would be a huge blow to Ware's draft status.)
Essentially, it's not "money" per se; they're not simply going just to get paid ASAP. It's that almost all of them have maximized their draft ceiling, and since the NFL is in all of their plans, it's better to get started before an injury or other unexpected happening knocks you out.
The one explanation I'd give for why we lose more than the others: We have better players than the others. When you have more NFL-caliber players on your squad, and they play to that potential, you have more players leave early because it's the smart thing to do if you can get drafted high by doing so.

Well said Wylie.
Championship every year, 2 or 3 out of 4, because of Saban's success. Take Jones, Kounjxyz(?), and Fluker out of the line up, and maybe Milliner before the season starts and see how Saban does. I'm not comparing players, only starters at those positions. Nevertheless, we had them beat, and maybe TM7 does not blow coverage on Yeldon.

Some coaching had to be involved.

To follow up. Look at the recent history of the conference. We have played a strong UF team in recent years while they have played a weaker Tenn team (who almost upset them if not for two blocked kicks a few years back). Also, this year we had USC and they had Mizzou. I'm not saying anything but the schedule has bounced their way recently. Was I frustrated at the losses this year? You're damn right, but at least we are in the hunt every year and that's all I can ask for.
As long as the recruiting train rolls on, LSU will always be in the hunt for the West and a title, and with this new playoff system, we may benefit better in the future for a chance at the crystal ball.
I wish all the departing jrs, srs, and Wing nothing but the best.

The schedule has "bounced that way"? Do you still believe it Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny?
Posted on 1/6/13 at 9:34 am to Icansee4miles
No, I see it as an easier path and better opportunity in an extremely tough league. Look at next year. We pick up UGA and they pick up Kentucky. Who would you rather play?
This year...UF or Tenn?

If you don't believe the Gumps easier path this year and next was blatantly orchestrated by the SEC office and the hoard of Bammers that populate it, then you haven't been paying attention.

I do believe it has. That is why I'm not all up in arms about where we finished in the sense that "Miles is a terrible coach." I think if the schedules were swapped this year, LSU would be playing tomorrow night.
I am up in arms about exactly what you say and Santa did bounce the schedule Bama's way this year and next.
