If we go cheap again like we have after successful coaches, then we will suck again. It's that simple. LSU either has to spend the money or don't. My opinion if TAF tries to stiff the bill on an elite coach, there should be a mass exodus of fans from that organization. Let the big time boosters run a program with Alleva that has 0 fan support.

Look at Nebraska recruiting leading up to Solich firing and after.

Hint it went from great to suck overnight and it didn't have dick to do with Texas or anybody else...

It took Saban asking why aren't you building this and that

that is not correct. Emmert had already started rebuilding the infrastructure a year before he hired saban

True.

I was a student then.and seeing the.construction from 97-99 was insane. Saban gets credit dinardo's doing. Gerry has a wish list iirc.

This is worthy of a repeat its so important.

"Dean was AD from '87 to 2000. from 1960 to 1987, LSU had 2 seasons with less than 5 wins. 8 of the 13 under Dean had 5 wins or less"

That's 2 out of 27 years pre Dean, on the old schedule with lesser games. The suckage period was the exception, not the rule.

Why did Alabama struggle to replace Stallings? 10 seasons of barely over .500 football before they hired Saban.

What about Florida after Spurrier and again after Meyer?

Those programs were well oiled machines that couldn't effectively replace elite coaches.

It is ridiculous to act like LSU is going to be infallible in its coaching search. We may luck out and find the right guy the first time, but there are hardly any examples of that happening for other programs in the past.
