I really think the story is what is garnering him so much attention. not saying he isn't good but the media loves a story.

there are a bunch of defensive players better than Te'o. The fact that he has all this Heisman hype is a complete joke occurring because he plays for Notre Dame.

agreed

Look he IS a good player who had a very good season

but let's be realistic here....If TM7 had the season he had last year vs this crop of Heisman hopefuls TM7 blows those three away

For 2012. Te'o Not in top 100 in solo tackles, Tackles for loss, sacks or forced fumbles. T-73rd in fumble recovery. T-59th in total tackles. T-3rd in interceptions. Yet he's the POY and defensive POY.

How?

I never said Te'o wasn't a good player or anything of the sort. Read my post again.

He benefits playing in a great defense

And Minter doesn't? Minter prob played with the best defensive line in the nation. People trying to discredit Teo, who do you think should have won those awards that Teo won? He is the main reason (outside of Pitt's kicker) that ND is still undefeated. So, the best player on the best defense doesn't deserve the awards? If this is true then Dorsey and Suh didn't deserve their hype either.

So based off those stats... Why isn't Minter going to New York?

Cause they don't have some SOB story about his mother and grandma to shove down our throats.

The fact that Teo has won a single award is frankly embarrassing to me as a college football fan.

Teo is a good player. But he's getting Heisman hype because he plays for ND and his girlfriend and grandma died within 24 hours of each other I think.
