Miles only reasonable choice

I think its safe to assume that the possibility at least exist that the four players "involved" in the bar fight will face some type of disciplinary action by the University/Athletic Dept. I think the possibility also exist that if they play and said disciplinary action does occur and/or an NCAA investigation is involved after the police investigation is concluded, a win over Oregon would not be worth much. While I am totally in the camp that one is innocent until proven guilty, my suggestion for action from Les Miles/Athletic dept seems like the lesser of the possible evils.
I suggest that Miles address the media/fans/alumni stating that while all the facts are not in, given the possible ramifications of allowing the 4 players to take part in any games before they are "cleared" is not a risk the University can take. I realize that a lot of folks would have a problem with this because it appears to be unfair to the players involved, but they have some responsibility in this by putting themselves in this situation in the first place by their actions. The University has to look at the bigger picture and by how allowing players to participate could bring long term harm is not worth the risk. Again, maybe this will be a life lesson for those involved that your actions in this life carry consiquinces and if that is learned, it will be more meaningful to them in the long run than missing a game or two.
We (LSU fans/team) are in the envious position of having capable backups at all the positions of the players involved and it might be best in the long run if Miles makes this decision now so the players can focus on football and a huge game looming ahead in about a week.
If the players are cleared, they would perhaps have been severely punished for only using poor judgement, but I'm sure they could be made to understand they put the program in an impossible situation and could move on the to play the rest of the season. Either way, the University will have gained respect for making the best of a bad situation, one that it was forced to deal with.

That didn't work so well for Duke.
The right call is to obtain facts, then make an informed decision. If this takes several days, so be it.

Missing a few games will not hurt the players or LSU football team.
LSU has backup players in every position to take over when another player gets injured, which happens all the time.
When players get hurt or suspended, the other team players step up and play better.
At practice, a coach will NOT overemphasize a situation or who they are`playing for the next game.
A good coach will prepare all the players to be ready for what they are`taught and not worry about what or who the other team is. Every game is prepared the same regardless of situations.....
Miles and staff are the best at preparing their team to be ready when time is on their side.
This unfortunate situation is unfortunate, but LSU will prevail.......

Agreed. But if they are later proved to be ineligible because of their actions, the NCAA will investigate if they play.

And if we're put on probation while we're already on probation, so be it???

I don't disagree with a lot of what you said, but you rerally don't know how the NCAA works.
To prove my point, how many time over the last few years have players from various teams been arrested and allowed to play and nothing happened regarding the NCAA.
Hell, Urban Meyer had players arresrted for pot and for trying to break a car out of impound and both of those guys played against LSU the next week.

I believe that Miles already knows who he will and will not play against Oregon. He probably just doesn't see much good in announcing it now, rather than 8 days from now, which I agree with.
Fine, but do all the players know so they can concentrate on only preparing for a football game?

And you're prepared to take that chance in this case?

THIS IS NOT AT ALL AN NCAA ISSUE.
Like it or not, being arrested or charged with this type of crime does not break NCAA eligibility rules. All 4 players could be arrsted, charged, and prosecuted to the full extent of the law and if Miles wanted he could play them up until the day their jail sentence starts and the NCAA couldn't do dick about it.

Pretty sure he had a press conference.
(Looks through my notes)
Yeah, he did. He addressed everyone already and does not need to until something more comes of this.
Remember, it is still "allegations". Nothing has been proven yet. Legally, as far as anyone knows and as of right now, the only thing they are guilty of is breaking curfew.

Sorry, I just don't have the confidence that you have in what or what the NCAA can or can not do.
And as I pointed out, this is also about the schools reputation. Making the move I suggested will, in my opinion, is making the best of a bad situation.
