We will be fine at DB, may have early growing pains but I think our pass rush can hide any weakness we may have .

We have the talent in the secondary. Just needs seasoning...

I'm worried about corner. Ed Paris was a 5* and has barely seen the field. Tolliver looked good early in his career, but can't hold down a spot. And Donte has sporadic play as well.

Yep.

He was as sticky as it gets.

I think Saivion Smith will be our star db next year. He'll fill in for Tre White with no problems.

wasn't the 2013 secondary riddled with unseasoned/inexperienced talent?

I'm more concerned about the inside linebackers.

not exactly riddled, but kinda sorta. they had both Jalens back, and Loston. they did have to work freshmen like Tre White and RR into the lineup. they had big time communication issues early, and J Mills moving to safety ultimately settled things down.

this right chea.

though ultimately I think they'll be ok with Dave as their position coach, and probably a move of someone like Divinity.

Yes, and we paid dearly for it. IIRC we had White and R. Robinson both starting as true freshmen.

But now we have Aranda, and that man knows what he is doing.

Is Kevin Tolliver out of the doghouse?

the key to the DB's imo is Kelvin Tolliver coming back to form and staying out of doghouse and one of the freshmen to pull a jamal adams and start at somepoint freshmen year. Delpit and Stevens could be absolute beast

There is too much talent IMO to have any significant drop off in the secondary. Obviously White and Adams aren't replaceable really but the secondary could be as deep as ever. Tolliver has to get out of the doghouse or whatever happened.

Battle brings back leadership and is an effective SEC safety and you got to think one of either Lewis, Paris, Monroe, Cameron Lewis, Stevens, or Delpit emerges. Competition will make those guys better in the spring

Is that MF'er on drugs? It's easy to say "next man up" because that group has been loaded with talent for more than a decade--and guess what, it still is-- and they're also going to be playing behind Aranda's front seven.

What, you're not concerned about the offensive line--which also loses several key pieces after the trouble they had against Alabama.

It seems like Detillier knows a lot, but sees nothing.

I think he is SPOT ON. Talent is there, experience is NOT.

CB: Jackson got burnt a few times this year, on big plays. He needs to improve his technique and get stronger. Toliver is still a question mark? Other young guys Smith and Fulton need PT. Early games will be critical to get this unit reps and in-synch with overall D.

S: Battle returning is big. Looking fwd to seeing how Monroe and X. Lewis look. Not sure if the EE's will be ready to contribute, maybe on STs. Paris is the wildcard IMO. Came in as a 5-star via some sites, has good size, but has not produced. Need him to step up and be one of those S's this season.

Group is LOADED with talent and potential, but VERY short on experience. Losing Adams and White is huge, impossible to replace IMO at this time...

Do people actually still put weight on Detillier's opinion?

Heard this when Claiborne and Reid left too

We reload in the secondary. Fulton and Smith were both top 5 at their position and so was Monroe, delpit and Stevens

I agree with him and I don't think the LB depth is as bad as people make it out to be although it does need to be addressed in recruiting.

You lose your best cover corner in White but there is a lot of talent just a little unproven. Good thing is the way the schedule sets up the meat of the SEC schedule is later this year, gives them time to work out kinks or get true fr up to speed.

At S you lose the ballhawking Adams and S is a position that takes time to learn. Stevens and Delpit will be studs but how quickly will they learn the system and schemes because you know they will be targeted early and often.
