Mett's Poor Body Language is Detrimental to the Team

Mett does not exude leadership and confidence during the game. He runs on and off the field with his head down in a "defeated" posture. He is constantly shaking his head as if to say "I don't know". He sits on the bench with a body language that says "leave me alone...I'm depressed"

I believe he can be a good and perhaps great QB. He has to learn to be a good leader. Matt Mauck and Matt Flynn always displayed positive energy.

In the BCS Championship Game against Ohio State we were losing and in a deep hole early in the game. The center snaps the ball over Flynn's head and we lose several yards. Flynn jumped up with a positive demeanor that told the team "We are still going to win this damn game".

That is how a QB should carry himself as the leader of the offense. You cannot let the team believe that the adversity is getting the best of you.

I tend to agree. When they show him on TV, you don't see confidence in his eyes ... in fact, his eyes look glazed over. Not sure if it's confusion, lack of confidence, or just plain out of it.

I agree he needs to become a leader and take control of the offense and show some emotion thats the difference between the offense and defense the defense has leaders!

Maybe if the o line could block, he wouldnt be so down in the dumps.

I have noticed a difference now that he is responsible. Last year he was a very animated cheerleader presence standing on the sideline.

I agree, but at least he doesn't have Jefferson's "pissed off look" and "it's not my fault look".

Seems he has no confidence in the Oline and vice versa. Him not trusting the oline for obvious good reason.

Or maybe if Mett displayed positive energy and confidence the o line would feed off of him and protect better. He should be the positive leader of the offense.

The play calling is also less than stellar.

Maybe he's wondering why they making him run the same handful of plays that don't work.

I agree with this. He is not being a leader yet. He needs to show leadership all the time and the offensive players will react positively.

But dammit, everyone and their momma who post on here with their inside information told me Mett was a lead and the team was ready to rally around him.
Hell, most said he was ready last year and Les just didn't want to pull the trigger.

He will get better. It just takes some time and experience. The question is, how much better in time the meat of our schedule.

Maybe if we could do simple pass blocking, his body language would not be that bad...

Exactly...this is how good QB's handle adversity. Always maintaining poise and positive energy no matter what is happening.

What inspires confidence most is play on the field. If you have that licked then nothing else really matters. Then everyone would be talking about how cool and collected Mett is. When you don't play good everybody starts questioning everything you do.

I think its time people finally realize that Mett is just not that good. Expectations need to be lowered. We will lose at least 2 games, possibly 3 or 4. If last night is the best our coaching staff can prepare a team, we are in serious trouble. I can see Saban just sitting back laughing
