Met Kevin Faulk yesterday

Told him that those late 90's teams were my introduction to LSU football and that my first game in Tiger Stadium was when he ran over #1 Florida in 1997.
Also thanked him on behalf of all LSU fans for being a great ambassador for the University.
His views on NFL success were interesting, saying that a player's ability to adapt his talents and skill set to fit the team scheme is the most important factor in determining success in the NFL. Said that that is often the problem with highly touted college players coming into the NFL and not being able to adjust their game. No reason players like Brady Quinn or Robert Gallery should have burned out so quickly.
He gave Belichick's ability to convey that message and understanding to his players as one of the main reasons for the Patriots sustained success, drafting and seeking out "coachability" over 40 yard dash times, etc.
I found that really interesting because as LSU fans, we have recently heard more of the opposite. Fans claiming (and rightfully so) that Miles & Crowton/Stud/Cameron have been more willing to adapt their playbooks to the player's ability rather than coaching up the players to fit their preferred schemes. That is taking the easy way out in coaching and not fair to the players. Essentially putting a cap not only on their prospects to advance, but also the team's success. Learning to be adaptable to different schemes can explain the majority of highly-touted high round draft picks busting versus mid-to-late round picks carving out a decade long career in the pros.
Said that football is mostly about making those adjustments within yourself, as players typically switch schemes 7-8 throughout their career.
Wished him the best at Carencro. Hopefully, one day he will be on the LSU sideline.

I'm sure that's all true; however, Tom Brady's ability as a QB also lends itself to achieving sustained success.

Tom Brady would have been nothing under any other coach. Belichick made him. Manning would have 8 rings with Belichick as his head coach.

No just no.
He may not have as many rings, but this is just a stupid fricking statement

not really, but he was a good player

That's a horrible observation. If Manning has proven anything in his career it is his inability to adapt to a scheme or coaching staff. He has to do it his way which has never been that great when it comes to playoff football.
Cool story about Faulk. One of my all time favorite Tigers.

Interesting fact: Kevin Faulk has the most rushing yards in NFL history for a player that never had a 100 yard rushing game.
At least thats what i was told. Im gonna feel dumb if somebody posts a stat showing he had a 100 yard rushing game.

I met him once. He was a colossal dick!!! He kept referring to himself in the third person like he was Bo Jackson or something. Just a real arse. Up to that point he was one of my favorite players

last time I met him, he was higher than tommy chong

I wouldn't say he 'ran over' Florida. He had 78 yards rushing and 0 TDs. Tyler did the most damage and of course Donaldson with the 2 picks. With that said Faulk is still my all-time favorite tiger.

Which Manning? The one who is currently leading the league in INT's despite missing the last 4 games? Yeah, 8 rings
