RT tackle Kevin Langford. He played 1981-85 and was named team captain his senior year.

Said his favorite game was against FSU in '82 when they came into Death Valley undefeated. Tigers won 56-21 and they got the bid to go to the Orange Bowl. Said he will never forget all the fans throwing the oranges onto the field. Said the sky looked like it was raining oranges.

Was there. The amazing part is: we did it before the internet. Everyone just brought an orange, some brought whole bags.

The score was actually 55-27, LSU. The bad part is that LSU got beat the next week by Tulane, 31-28

Was there too, as a kid. My dad was so drunk, he wouldn't leave the stadium. I remember the lights were being turned off in the stadium, and we were still in there.

55-21, actually.

True that. Lots of Tiger fans were looking forward to the Tulane game for a little payback after the Greenies, led by coach Vince Gibson, had routed LSU 48-7 the year before at the Dome. Instead, the game was one of the worst losses in that era of LSU football.

My parents still talk about that game.

Said someone drilled a ref after he said he would penalize LSU if anyone threw another orange.

This was my very first game at LSU. We just moved here the year before and my dad got us tickets. I'd never seen or felt anything like it. The stadium was shaking. Fog rolled in, oranges all over the field. I've been hooked every since.

Don't forget they also lost the last regular season game to MSU in Starkville after the Tulane loss.

This person who threw an orange and hit the refeteee should have been arrested as it was aggravated assault. Officials need to be protected. That is assinine and dangerous and moronic. Of course, the same a holes who moralize about moral decay would laugh about that.,, hypocrites

I too was at the Tulane game in '82

what I distinctly remember, rainy night in Tiger Stadium, slippery wet field conditions, and we had no answer for Reggie Reginelli. Very embarrassing loss

I was a student then sitting in the student section. Another student dressed up as a Seminole and acted like he was going to fight Mike (the human mascot) in a skit. We didn't know it was a skit at first and almost killed the Seminole dressed student with oranges.

End of the skit was Mike body slamming this guy on the ground mid-field and the place went nuts.
