Why don't coaches treat them more like NFL preseason games? Does LSU really need to risk Guice or a starting lineman for more than a few reps in the Citrus bowl? Why not treat it as a chance to give the 2's and 3's some "live fire" reps?

Well you really want to win the game because, you know, its one of the only 12 or 13 or 14 games you play all year and more people care about post season rankings for the evaluation of your season.

And "risk"? For what, the next game in 8+ months?

Also Guice is technically the 2. And Im assuming your point of playing the 2's and 3's is to get the guys ready for next year, so I really dont get your point about not playing guice since he will be on the team next year

And bowl tickets are expensive so I'd be pissed shelling out that money watching the 3rd stringers blow 3 timeouts in the first quarter.

Because it allows another month of practice for the returning year players

Recruiting. The bowl game is one final pitch to some recruits.

Guice is no longer the 2...Fournette will no longer dress out.

Fans will moan but they'll come back in the fall.

I'd rather backups get some exposure to game play than gain pride. Pride is meaningless. Experience isn't.

Bowl games are not meaningless. The school also gets MONEY. Get it? Citrus Bowl payout = $4,250,000

Why is this bowl meaningless? Is this what you consider all non playoff bowls? Was the 95 Independence Bowl meaningless to you when the rest of us were starving for an extra game? How about the Sugar after the 06 season? That had no championship implications?

Quit being spoiled.

Lol

Right, especially when in recent years we could watch our 1's do that.

Would be the last bowl game invite for a LONG time.

Using this logic after a team loses 2-3 games they should just quit that season.

Non-CFP Bowl games maybe meaningless to you, and if so why even bother posting this? Most players and coaches love to play against good competition. Louisville has the second best record in the ACC behind Clemson. Could you imagine if we sent our 2nd string out against Lamar Jackson? They're not going to avoid putting their best players out on the field just just because you think LSU should. It's about opportunity, competition and winning, not exhibition.

LF has the right idea to sit and protect his draft stock...

Dupre, Adams, Key, Beckwith, White and anyone else who may be thinking about the draft should do the same.

Actually, I was at that game; froze to death watching it.

But neither that game nor the '06 Sugar does anything for next season. Meaningful experience for the underclassmen, however...

lol why don't we just change the game of football to be pillow fights instead? It's just too risky.
