I use to not be able to stand the guy but have seen him grow as a broadcaster and analyst. Interestingly, he said the plays run Sat by LSU, even the unsuccessful ones, forced the defense to respect what may be coming. He said it was "genius" play calling by Ensminger and brings a new dimension to LSU's game. He indicated that even though some were dropped or over thrown that it is "ok" and part of the strategy. Interesting viewpoint from a former opponent.
He is actually bringing a valued assessment from a qb's standpoint and seems to becoming more objective. I never thought I would see it from such a Bama homer.

As long as Bama isn't mentioned he is fine. But the second anything related to Tuscaloosa becomes a topic the guy gets a stiffy and he can't help but rub one out on air while being the biggest homer in broadcasting.

I've agreed with most of his views this year about LSU. He seems to call it like he sees it and does his homework on us.

He prolly reads this board.

The dude has been alright ever since Miles, in his roundabout way, put him in his place about his Saban worship.

Ugh. He's not! Yes he went there but when, during the course of his current job, does he ever come off as being a Bama homer?

Lou Holtz is a homer--never saw him pick against Notre Dame even when they were 10 point underdogs. Greg is objective, level headed, neutral when it comes to his job as a broadcaster.

I don't know why so many people think because a guy says "Bama is good" that makes them a homer. I've even seen people say that Spears is a Bama homer because of Saban.

It's getting ridiculous.

TBH, he's been one of our most vocal supporters throughout this entire Miles situation.

And really for whatever Bama homer comes out in him, we have Booger to neutralize it.

I agree.

I mean, Bama HAS been the best team. So, if he says "Alabama is terrific" it is NOT being a 'homer'. It is, simply, TRUTH.

I've liked him all along.

It has been amazing to see how much better all the young inexperienced guys on the SECN have gotten. When the network first started everything was so awkward and there was no timing and chemistry between the announcers.

With McElroy leading the way, these guys have gotten very good. I'm even surprised how little of a Bama homer he is. They kind of encourage each guy to be a homer for their school, which is ok because so many schools are represented.

Yep. I tried to not like McElroy but he's made that tough because he is good at his job.

I loved that he drew up plays last week.

I wish we had more of that on these shows. Wasn't there and X and O show last year?

He played QB for them and will obviously have some biases, but he's not a homer when it comes to his job.
