When is the last time LSU had two freshman starters compile the following stats in successive SEC starts:

Innings: 15.2
Earned Runs: 1
Hits: 9 (.150 opp ba)
K's: 14
BB's: 2

And nothing to show for it........

We're in the dead bat era.

When McCune left the game, what was the score?

Doesn't the other team also have to use dead bats? Maineri just needs to recruit smaller, faster guys.

Yeah, but he was only referring to pitching stats and he was asking when anyone could remember pitchers doing this well in previous seasons. I don't want to say that McCune and Gausman aren't talented but they have an advantage over freshmen pitchers from previous seasons.

these 2 are what gives me a slight bit of hope that LSU can turn this around.

I agree. But that would be awesome numbers even in a wooden bat league. I guess my other point was that not often will a team be 0-2 when they get those type of performances from their starters.

Alsup just had a great outing last weekend as well. I think our pitching is pretty solid with a little weakness in relief behind Berry and Ott. We need to get the bats going.

alsap did do work last weekend. hopefully does it again today but McCune and Gausman are going to have to be the start to any post season chances.

Honestly i think this team needs to inject ware into the line up when we get home and mess with the order again. If we can get early runs i think it would help everything out a ton.

I'll take that mental leap and say never.
