But, come on, the dude definitely has ambivalent feelings about the game of football.
Les Miles disagrees with your asinine assumption:

For me, I’m going to tell you something, when I coached JaMarcus Russell and I had to have him at 255, he weighed 255. I had to have him ready to roll and at practice on time, meetings, he was the leader of my team. I’m going to tell you right now, I enjoyed having him quarterback my team.

Russell was definitely never a troublemaker.

And, according to two of his coaches, he definitely wasn't "ambivalent" during his time at LSU.

His uncle/mentor died after he was drafted. You can't make these assumptions about his motivation. You're purely speculating and not backing up your assumptions with any facts.

I'm intelligent enough to know that winning a BCS title as a starting QB and winning the MVP of that title game is more indicative of being successful than never playing in one.

JR had 4 t/os at Fla.

Flynn had 3 INT's versus bama in 2007

JR had balls thrown at Bowe bounce off his hands for INT's

Not exactly turnovers that were his fault.

Also, the center admitted he fumbled on the 1 against Florida in 2006

It's not really a fact-based issue. What am I supposed to do, cite a medical report showing a lack of caring synapses in the brain?

Except I said so during his time at LSU.

He did often play lethargically, not really getting geared up until late in the game.

He always had poor follow through on his fake handoffs.

He was initially completely unready to run plays in 2004.

He was not the best at reading defenses, and often made plays based on athleticism and his ability to shoot balls into tight spaces with a cannon arm.

He had a history of audible check downs to running plays that got to be somewhat of a running joke.

Now looking back, maybe some of that criticism was unfair. Maybe the coaches were to blame for him being totally unprepared against Oregon State in 2004. Maybe that's actually the way Jimbo taught QBs to do fake handoffs--after all, that stupid stretch run play was his design too, and not JaMarcus's fault at all. Maybe Jimbo had some sort of system where he actually told JaMarcus to do all those check downs to run plays even though the other team was loading the box.

Hell, I don't know. What I do know is that whenever I saw JaMarcus talking to a reporter on television, he seemed to act like he didn't care about any of it, and seemed condescending and aloof. But those aren't facts, obviously. It's subjective.

What is somewhat of a fact is that in big games against the best defenses in the SEC, LSU could never get over the hump and really have stellar performances, despite having Russell at QB and 3 #1 draft picks at WR, and that somehow, a year later, with an offense that obviously had less talent, somehow Crowton & Flynn were able to get better production and produce an offense capable of putting up lots of points in a more consistent manner. Go figure.

why do you keep making it sound like Flynn won the BCSNG with no help whatsoever

Why are you throwing Matt under the bus to better support your point of view?

I kid.

I think Matt and LSU had more success than JR and LSU.

If you disagree, ok. It's not a big deal.

What about Flynn alone?

JR won more personal awards than Flynn.

2007 LSU got the breaks and 2006 did not.

Come on man!
How can you make the argument that the 2007 team got the breaks? One starting DL was injured in the first game, if I remember correctly and the rest of the season. Dorsey missed several games after the Auburn game, and was not the the same player until the championship game. In addition, in 2006 JR was throwing to three experienced receivers, Davis, Doucet, and Bowe. Two were first round draft choices In 2007, when Doucet was injured, Flynn was throwing to to a JC and a first year starter, La Fell.
Study the roster and note the difference in injuries.

Well, the 2007 team was the first two loss team to make the BCS championship game, as well as the first team in nearly 50 years to be crowned universal champ in the various polls with two losses.

1. lost two games to teams they had no business losing to
2. pitt beat WVU when all WVU had to do was win that game, and they were in. Pat White being hurt also was a huge break for LSU.
3. a ton of other teams losing helped get LSU into the game

basically the stars aligned pretty well for LSU after the UT SECCG win... with a backup QB.

Can we at least all just admit that the 2006 defense was obviously much better than the 2007 defense, and that the 2007 offense was obviously much better than the 2006 offense, regardless of why we happen to think that these things were true?

as a whole? I think so, but jamarcus WAS the offense in 2006 before keilland williams came on during the last 5 games of the season.
