Interesting perspective from Sporting News writer. See Crossman's timeline on Twitter

HB has to take responsibility for his own actions, but he has been handed a tougher road than most people. Too bad he's been unable to overcome.

That's a bunch of bullshite. People who don't stop smoking weed when they have a D-1 scholarship are assholes.

Weed isn't a problem. Has HB ever sucked dick for weed?

Weed should be legal if we weren't a bunch of hypocrites.

Still as a high profile athlete he should know better.

Think they will arrange it so that HB and his daddy will be roommates?

Yeah, I don't care about the weed. But if you're getting tested to stay compliant with NCAA, just stay off of it.

Hell, in the NFL he could have puffed up non stop. They don't care. But while he was here, for the team and the fans, he should have laid off that shite.

I understand what Crossman is saying. Typically a person who goes through that isn't as successful and famous as Mathieu. People have these issues in anonymity all the time. He's not a really bad kid, he's just hopelessly fricked up.

It has little to do with whether weed is legal. TM would have found something else on which to immolate himself. He has some inner desperation that can't be slaked except with excitement - whether borne of action or of deviancy. It is what made him so terrific on the field and so atrocious off the field.

Sorry to see this happen. I can tell your upset about it. It's very frustrating and sad to watch it unfold. Many of us appreciate the info that you have shared here, and I'm certain you know 95% more than you post for the public to see.

Hang in there.

Weed is awesome. Now having said that, being a D1 athlete with millions of dollars certainly hanging in the balance is... awesomer. If TM can't rise above it, he's just another cautionary tale. He'll be on a 30 for 30 somewhere down the road. Could have been a n inspirational story but it's just another tragedy in sports. The rest of the world goes on. Just sad.

If he gets out he should be barred from contact with any team members or football activities. He is a danger to the current players.

I've been successfully working for the same company for many years, and as what some might call a stereotypical Colorado resident, I enjoy a bowl from time to time.

HOWEVER, my company was bought by a much larger company that informed us that we would have to take a drug test. So I QUIT, because my livelihood depended on it, regardless of my personal affinity for the occasional smoke.

That's the tragedy here--he wasn't able to see the forest for the trees. Mathieu's a dumbass.

And Jefferson, Hatcher, and Bryant need to get a freaking life and get away from campus.
