How so?

Short answer? Spin.

Rather than announcing at one venue that practice was closed:

THEN by a different medium and at a different time announce that practice would actually be open most of the season:

Announce at one time in one venue that practice would be open the overwhelmingly majority of the tlme.

It's basic pr spin and we f'd it up. The story was and still his that we are closing a few practices (which is what we announced first) rather than most will be open

I think the Media backed O thinking that LSU (Mainly Alleva) would get this situation right. Also don't forget that people down here love to root for one of their own. This played into the hiring of Coach O imho.

Ponamsky played his cards right and one of his best friends was hired by the flagship of the state. He is truly a lucky individual.

Best thing is, Ben Love is talking about it right now in Lafayette, and I guess it could partly be because he is in Laffy and not BR, but he said he doesn't care that the media is locked out. I'm sure he could make that drive if he wanted to, though.

i think it's more hilarious that the media was so fricking stupid to back O and now they're dealing with the reality of O. the fact that they helped spread all the bullshite lies and emotional defense of O means they're either stupid or were willing to promote propaganda

they supported Fat Goebbels, now they have to live with him

Looking back now, Alleva created a monster we wouldn't immediately realize the second he let O become the interim coach.

i think they backed O b/c Fat Goebbels promised them access

Les was stingy and they wanted more. Fat Goebbels told them to back O during the year and especially when he was up for the job to get the fanbase behind and they'd be swimming in access. now he's settling scores and the media can't admit that happened (b/c it would look bad and may violate their ethical code)

I mean, I just don't see this as a "misstep" at all. If you're trying to make everyone look left while you go right, then LSU did fine. No one is talking about the team (who's at practice and who's not) or the offense (what plays they're practicing). LSU has the media talking about itself. Sure, it makes for bad radio and people roll their eyes, but the topic this week isn't going to be on anything LSU didn't want it to be.

I find the media meltdown entertaining. They now have to worry about filling time since they can't talk about what they've seen at practices. They're in a panic. It's pretty great, really.

Musconna's rants are the worst. I'm sure he's just dragging it out to use up airtime, but they go on forever and he just says the same shite over and over. We get it. Let it go.

Good chance Matt is actually posting as LSUSmartass just to bring more attention to himself.

This.

Fat Goebbels (as much as I can't stand him) would know there are multiple ways to control the narrative. If you can't control it with direct access and interviews, you can give the media a reason to create their own narrative about media access as a distraction.

Maybe Matt does not get around much....happens all the time.
But when your previous life experience consists of doing FM DJ and Saturday afternoons doing promos at some car dealership.... you tend to have a very skewed view of the world and your place in it.
