Matt just compared closing the practices to the media to the government passing bills behind a closed door. That is a pretty terrible comparison.

I wouldn't let the media in either if I was the coach.

Mascona has been anti-Orgeron from day one. Looking for another reason to justify his thoughts.

Truth is, the media will report everything they see. Good AND bad.

If a player is limping, they'll report it. Dropped passes, coaches going off on a player, etc... the media will report it.

Yes, they'll report the good as well, but good Lord heaven help Orgeron if the media can spot something negative.

Ever notice that all the good coaches out there are no big fan of the media?

It's limiting the free flow of information. That's not a difficult concept to understand.

Imagine CSPAN shutting off footage during session. It creates a situation where unknown or false information is spun into facts. Thats not good for anyone.

Well then don't spin false information into facts.

I'd bet there's some interesting inter-team discussions happening with a nice attitude that doesn't need to be shared and discussed with media types... think #savages.

Other scenario is it sure would be nice to have a base package on offense that everyone learned the terminology on so when they shift and change throughout the season they always can go back to the base - that no one else knows...

Just thinking out loud...

Then that's on the media. That's what we've come to, have to get those clicks even if you have to make stuff up to get them.

I just do not get this fake controversy.

I assumed it was extremely common for a coach to close practice for lengths of time. The coach has no obligation at all to invite media to ANY practice, let alone all of them. Who cares?

The only reason why this is a story is because the media thinks they are the end all and be all.

. I agree 100%, Tbob is a joke, I quit listening to the morning after he was hired. I wish the morning show would bring back Hunt Palmer.

Regardless of one's position on the closing of practice it was handled poorly. Amateur hour.

Just basic good PR. Any first year comms student would have handled it better.

You act like politicians don't have closed door meetings. The CSPAN footage would be comparable to game footage. It's a shite analogy.

The media is mad that they aren't given access on day one. that's all this is. They'll get their camp footage in a few weeks. It's just backwards from normal. Instead of opening it up early then closing, he's closing then opening it up. And matt is right. All they would get is the players stretch. Why that has anything to do with their stories is beyond me. They'll still release their same fluff for this time of year. Who gives a shite?

How so?

I love when TBob tried to use Pete Carroll's approach at USC as an example of good practices. It's ended up getting them in a ton of trouble.

It's a comparison. Not that big of deal and the fact that some of you are holding on to it is a bit strange.
